But whats better? The regular halogen bulbs or LED's? Since the led's dont light up alot of space.

i went to autozone and they have the little amber bulbs....they dont have the one 74 or w/e it is but i got sand paper and shaved the sides down of the bigger bulb and it fit right into the little socket and has worked for over 2 years

theres only one bulb that is a different size in eg's which im guessing you have by your username. and its very easy to make the bigger 24's or w/e they are fit into that one smaller socket.

its very simple....takes 2 minutes to change out all your lights.... i think the led's look good but if you dont want to order them just go to autozone and get the ones they have...pepboys has them as well.

I recently did this modification to my eg and used the halogen bulbs at autozone and just spray painted them they worked great. Heard that painting clear bulbs would give a better color then the amber bulbs you could buy. From what I can tell I believe its the truth, I followed this write up for the project

http://www.emotors.ca/Articles/116.aspx

It helped me out a lot, better than the write up in the FAQ's section

Well i used my phones camera, but they look better in person.. I think spraying the bulbs wouldnt be such a good idea.. The paint might melt in the long wrong.. They will turn brown.. A friend of mine sprayed them with yellow glasss paint and the paint just melted

As long as you use the right kind of paint that won't happen, I used some paint I got at Walmart for like 2 dollars that worked on glass, no prob, worked fine. Used some color I think it was Pumpkin by Kryon. I don't know what kind of paint your friend used, but I had no problem with my set up

if you spray them no matter what it will fade over time melt i have no idea about.
but its pretty much the same thing, color bulbs are just dipped in color,
i wouldnt spray them tho, i just dont like how it looks, and fades.

Don't do LEDs...the light spread isn't nearly what it needs to be to fully illuminate your cluster. You'll end up with hot spots in the climate control as well. Trust me, I did this and yanked them out after a week. And I *hate* pulling that climate control out, so you know it had to be annoying. Incandescents FTW.

I got mine from Autozone...this is how they turned out:

I hear ya there...it's a big hassle, but having taken the CC out more times than I care to count, I can almost do it in my sleep. Getting those plugs out of the back is a real b*tch! It was a lot easier to do with the standard console, but after I put in the optional audio console, it became even more of a hassle.

Ok what exactly did you buy at autozone? Also did you paint your needles red? I like and PROPS. Wonder how the EG9 cluster looks like at night? I was opting to buy one of those but i hate KM instead of MPH

Thanks. I believe I used a combination of 194NA bulbs as as well as 24NA bulbs. The 194NA are the smaller bulbs.

Yes, I did paint the needles red...I used Krylon marker paint, which I found at the auto parts store (Kragen or Auto Zone should have them). Had use a really good brush to do it right.

To be honest, I think the bulbs from Autozone look brighter than the stock JDM cluster bulbs. I tested one out in my hatch about a month ago...half the bulbs were out, but the ones that were working didn't look all that bright. Maybe if they were all working it would have been a different story.

I bought both the 194NA and the 24NA, and I couldn't find anywhere to put the 194's. I don't think I overlooked anything. My cluster took six 24's.

BTW I did the climate control with the Lens repair kit, but like an idiot I reinstalled it with burned out bulbs. Check your bulbs people, or always use new ones just to be sure.
