Just bought a worn Spoon 1.5 LSD and have a few ?'s
First off, it needs "maintenance"/rebuild. So my questions are: Where do I get the rebuild kit? What gear Oil? Steps to rebuilding it? Thanks.
BTW: Im new to Tranny's and everything involved with them and its a B Series LSD.

The US (OPAK) site I don't think lists everything spoon sells, so I would use the japanese site for reference if they sell a rebuilt kit/parts

Ok I checked OPAK. How do I tell if its a *EG6* B16A or a DC2 B18C-R? Theres no numbers on the casing. Would it be inside the of the diff? Thanks.

Well...what car/trans did you buy it for and or what did it come out of?
B16 LSD does not fit in GSR and vice versa, that is why they are different part #s.
From memory, lsds that swap:
B16/LS = swappable without modification
GSR/ITR/CTR = swappable without modification
It is possible that you could have bought an LSD that won't even fit your application, if so, I am accepting donations.

You can make it work, but it's kind of a hassle. You have to swap out the ring gear, the corresponding gear on the output shaft (?) and maybe one other thing. .RJ did it a few years ago using an ITR diff in his LS trans.

I am doing it now with an ITR diff in my B16 trans, not a big deal just needs the counter shaft and ring gear changed.
Hmmm the only way to tell I believe is bolt spacing as they both have 10 bolts, post some photos someone may know

THIS IS WRONG INFORMATION!! I have a b16A LSD IN MY GSR TRANNY....
you just have to make sure you use the correct ring gear (gear that attaches to the Diff) on the LSD and the correct corresponding countershaft.
ie. b16a diff in a gsr tranny all you need to do is get a 4.40 ring gear and put it on the diff/lsd then use the correct bearings and make sure the clearances are correct.
ie itr diff in a b16 tranny. just put the 4.4 ring gear on the itr diff, and drop in and clearance correctly.

Well, what he means is you'd have to compare it to a known ring gear to see if the bolt holes line up between the two. I don't think you could just eyeball that from pics, the difference isn't that big. Might be a difference of tooth count on the gear?

You yourself just said you have to change out the ring gear. Thus, not a drop in procedure. You win facepalm of the day.
There is a reason why different part numbers for all brands of LSD's, quaife/kaaz/wavetrac/spoon/mugen/even obx
Apology accepted, even if you don't say sorry
Is there a SPOON Diff specific rebuild thread or a clutch type diff rebuild thread? I used google to search H-T threads and I found nothing except for the M Factory diff rebuild.
I quote myself, "swappable without modification"

it is a freaking DROP in procedure with the right ring gear....a ring gear is NOT a modification.
Chad!
As your nemesis, I just want to say what a pleasure it is to see you facepalming so auspiciously. Muahhhahahahahahahhahaha!
Scott, who doesn't think you should call automatic transmissions automatic...after all, you have to shift them into drive...
