you dont need a spring compresser however its dangerous with out. im mean very dangerous,.
i have done it once without, put the stut on the gound and step on the end of the shock not spring, (it will really help if you have a impact, or air tools,) bust the bolt off the top, and the spring should just pop out,
did this on my buddies da, the backs hardly poped out at all, but the fronts came out with a little more force... but everything went good....
inless your ok doing that, go rent a compresser from shucks or something!

easy **** loook at the strut and figure it out. and its not dangerous at all. put the strut against the wall the bottom end and stand on the spring as you are looseing the bolt and pop the nut will go about a foot the end

Its dangerous man. maybe when u did it the struts were shot to the point where the spring wasnt holding the pressure. on a new strut holdn all that lbs of the spring it will shoot really quickly. either breaking your hand, fingers or wrist if their in the way.
richie-rich88- your way would work do, but i dont think im going to break my hand when my hands and feet arent on the spring lol
op do it the right the way, rent a compresser put it compress take off put new on and your done.
by the way with or without a compresser this is a dangerous job if you dont know what your doing so keep the kiddies away.

how low you go depends on the shocks you have, the streets you drive on and the spring rate you want to run. as a general rule it's much easier to live with a car that has at least 1 finger of gap between the wheel and fender. a tight 2 fingers is better. this assumes some type of sub 300lb/in lowering spring and a garden variety shock like tokico hp, koni str.t, kyb, stocks, etc.

Thats just a funny video me and my friend andrew. We compressed his springs with his donuts. Scary to do, but we managed to do it even though it took a little time.

those kids are retarded hahaha ... just put the whole setup in the car and use a jack to compress it, screw in the nut (i use an impact gun) and voila haha
