I've had my 94 accord for 2 months now. i've havent had any problems with it until last week. my temp gauge fluctuates from cool to over boiling point. the needle flings straight up and then later on it will just go back to normal. some people told me i should just get a new gauge... please let me know.

another problem was one night i was driving and i started smelling a strong rubber burning small from under my hood. i still smell it once in a while. its driving me nuts cuz i cant figure out what it is. my first thoughts was that it was a belt but they are all fine. if someone knows what might be the problem let me know. i dont like bringing my car to shops because the thought of a stranger fondling my car. thats MY JOB!

sounds like u have a leak in ur radiator and the bad smell is ur collant burning, check for small hair line craks toward the top of the radiator and/or actual holes in the radiator.

i had a similar problem and it was casued by a leak.
