Default Mini Mw Swap Question

Well we now have a trunk full of parts and started to to the up grade. We got all the way to mounting the old intake (89 SI) to the D16y8 Head and now we have a question? The new head has a ball bearing inlet/ outlet ??? thingy (technical term) top center on the intake side of the head. This goes to nothing on the intake? Should it

Thanks and hope that makes some sense.

Dave

he's not crazy and it does look like a bearing. there is one located on the side of the head as well. i'm not sure what they are for but i can guarantee you its nothing you need to worry about. i did an a6/y8 swap and retained the a6 intake mani and i didn't do anything special with either of these areas.

on the intake side

to the left of dizzy

No, there is not connection to the intake, you'll be fine.

I believe it is a connection port block-off.
During the machining of head, ports are drilled to make an angled connection port, then the access port needs to be plugged.

I think the older non-vtec heads have a set screw instaed of the ball.

Combination vtec-e/vtec combination head. I'm doing a mine-me conversion and have 2 heads, one D15Z1 - 1992-1995 Honda Civic VX and one D16Z6 - 1992-1995 Honda Civic EX. It seems like the cam/valve rocker system from the D15Z1 head drops right onto the D16Z6 head yielding a D15Z1 head with 10% larger valves. This is going into a 1994 Civic DX looking for good fuel economy with slightly better power than the DX.
both D16Z6 valves are 1mm larger than the D15B7 valves in the DX. Anyone have thoughts on this combination of parts?

Zak
