99-00 tail light question
the tail lites on my 2000 si are starting to show their age. the white part of the tail lights, mostly the reverse lights, the background that projects the light outward is starting to break apart. this has resulted in different shades to be seen in the white area.
my question is: is there any way to fix this besides opening them up? has this happened to anyone else?
this arnt my lites but it has the same thing, didn't have time this weekend to take a pic of mine, if you look at the inner one's on the white part you see the background white is flaking

If its on the outside I was refferd to this product by mothers on an Acura 1.6 EL forum Called PlastX its a clear plastic lense restorer that sort of buffs out the discoloration and leaves a protective film on the plastic filling in the low spots and making them look brand new again
I did them To a Set of JDM Cavalier tail lights I dont have a before pic but they looked sorta rough looking.

Damn i should learn to read Well with out opening up your tail lights its nearly impossible i would suggest opening up the bad parts and re coating them with some sort of reflective substance weather it be adheasive aluminum they use for rust repair or a coat of highly reflective paint. Here is the intsructions on how to take them apart.. these are for headlghts and i added tail light because the process is the same.
1. Grab your baking sheet and cover it with a damp towel. Wet things won't burn and you don't want to melt your headlight (or tail lights).
2. Remove the bulbs and metal clips from your headlights or tail lights.
3. Place the head light on the baking sheet and put it all in the oven. Don't let the head light or tail light touch the sides of the oven.
4. Turn the oven to 210* and set the timer for 8 minutes.
5. Put on your Mechanics Gloves and wait.
6. When the timer goes off pull the light out and use the paint scraper to start prying the light apart. I use the scraper because it's flexable so it shouldn't break anything. Use the Exacto knife to cut the sealant. (Careful the sealant is some sticky ****!)
7. Your headlights or tail lights are now apart.
