ABS light..no code..what next??
The car: 98 civic ex coupe
so after changing the pads on the car, i noticed the abs light came on and stayed on. I went to check codes by shorting the connector with an insulated wire, but the abs light stayed solid (no flashes). i have checked CELs many times using the same method, so my procedure should be good..so i followed the steps to reset the light (depress brake pedal, ignition ON, abs light off, release pedal, abs light on, depress pedal, abs light off) but the light came back on.
so i gave up for a bit, researched, found nothing but "check for codes" posts, and tried getting codes again. same thing happened, but now i can't seem to even get the abs light to reset..i even extended and cleaned up the ends of the insulated wire to ensure a good connection when shorting.
just wondering what i should do now? my haynes manual doesnt suggest anything for when you don't get any codes.
is it possible my brake cleaner damaged the abs sensors? i chose to use the cheaper normal brake cleaner rather than the abs sensor safe cleaner..the sensors are squeaky clean too. i don't understand how that would affect the reading of codes though..
thanks in advance!!

another thing..i've heard a bit about how there is an abs connection to the battery and that a lose connection sometimes causes problems..can somebody post a pic of where that connection is exactly?

i stopped messing around with the abs issue to solve a few other issues, but i'm back.
can somebody please tell me how to check for an open in the IG2 circuit?
how do i check for a short to body ground?
how can i check for a faulty abs control unit?
i've searched all over without finding any clear info, and the hayne's manual i use for repairs says "abs systems are complicated. bring it to a professional." but i thought i would mess around with it a bit first before i take it in..

Thanks for that!!
turns out the abs battery connector was not connected securely enough. before trying any of these tests, i did a thorough clean of my bat and connectors, and used a new bolt to connect the abs to the bat.
drove to work this morning and the light turned off for good. all i gotta do is test the system to make sure its actually working!!
*smack myself in the head*
