Default MFactory comes to SoCal

Patrick and Stephan of MFactory have come down to SO Cal to visit dealers and to their drag race in Utah and also the Cal Speedway race this coming weekend!!

In true HC spirit we decided to give the guys a good beat down and arranged a night of karting at K1 in Torrance. We had a pretty good turnout,,A bunch of the AEM guys showed up , including their Italian factory driver Thomaso De Paulinio. John Howard was there and also my karting nemisis Brian Kono from Afterhours Automotive.

We had originally planned to just take turns putting the Mfactory guys into the wall , but low and behold Patrick won the first race,,, and turned fast time!!!! FTWYO

I was sure the next races were in the bag, I started last but of course jumped the start and thanks to a first lap pile up ( big suprise there ) i found myself in second behing Greg from AEM. I set him up for a beautiful pass ,, timed it perfectly ,,,pulled up next to him and was driven immediately into the wall. After that I was like a wounded fish and became fish food to the others . AEM guys just freighttrained by. I started to work my way up and was immediately put into the wall by Stephan Popadakus while he was in a drift giving me the peace sign,,,,um,,,,rude.

To add insult to injury Thomaso waited for me, let me by and then passed me on the last lap with the checker in sight. Again,,,rude,,,

So in the end i finished next to last. I think i beat Stephan ( Mfactory Stephan ,,not Popakapinurass) And Kono ended up beating me , but had tire tracks up the right side of his body (????).

Anyway great time by all ... Ill keep this updated over the weekend !!

R

I so badly wanted to be there. I had to work extra 30 min and going through Downtown LA at 5:45 would have been a killer. Torrance is way too far at rush hour traffic.

I'd be interested in trying one of those out for kicks. Is the power delivery weird?

ya it is a little weird. It has tons of torque, which is good if you are a heavy person you dont get penalized like you would in a gas kart. and sometimes the gas pedal is a little like an on/off switch. But overall i was impressed with them for indoor karts

It was certainly a fun night. I had fun out there leading the field in the 2nd race and could tell there were some close battles going on back there. We even ran into some old HC racers who just happened to stop by K1 on pure coincidence. Thanks for the invite Renan!

K-1 has a asphalt indoor track.Tires super grippy but you can manage to slide around some. Actually it feels like an eraser being rubbed on the ground in some turns.
The accelerator is like and on off switch.... not the best throttle response.
I also dislike that some karts dont hold a charge for the full race. You end up breaking off the main group, back to the pits for a lap or three then back out after changing karts only now you are trying to catch everyone.
Give me a indoor gas kart anyday, and a 125cc shifter everyday of the week!
