I got an exhibition of speed ticket 2 months ago. Luckily they didnt impound my car. Court date is around the corner.
What is the cost of one of these in CA? and is traffic school an option?

you can beg the judge for traffic school but not likely.

I had a cop pull me over for a Speed Contest, Speeding, and loud exhaust.
All thanks to some jack A$$ in a RSX who was trying to catch up to me, without my knowledge. He plead guilty to speed contest, I got a lawyer. Cost $1500 for the lawyer, I took the plea bargin of "Aiding and Abetting a Speed Contest" $1300 (fine and court fee). Sucks...I thought about fighting it outright, since I was only guilty of speeding, but the lawyer told me its a gamble, since the other guy plead guilty and the judge could assume, if one person is "racing" then the other person must me too.

Luckily the plea bargin, only cost me 1 point on the driving record.

well for one you mostlikely can do traffic school, but you still have to post bail asap (proably 300+) or you can ask the judge for community service. Now depending on the judge they might make you do Cal Trans which is a biiiiitch. Or Work at a volunteer center. Its up to you mang but one piece of advice is dont miss your court date, you dont want that failure to appear on you cuz the fine is up to $1000!

 

Heres what happened. I was exiting the freeway on a Sunday night at around 11:30pm. While driving on an empty street I noticed that a VW was speeding next to me. I let him pass because it wasnt worth showing him what I got. There was a red light ahead so he felt like an idiot after speeding and then having to stop at a light. Im driving 38 on a 40mph road and I catch up to him. We are both waiting at the red light but my intentions wasnt to race him. I just wanted to show my friend my new setup. We both looked around at the stop light for cops. No cops in sight. When it turned green I did a bit of a launch and took off to about 90mph. After I put it on neutral and slowed down I see this VW zoom right pass me after about 10 secs later. Im like WOW this idiot wants to race? Im not even trying to race him. Then afterwards I see another car follow behind me and Im like wtf? he wants to race or something? at this time I was going 38mph again. Then he finally flashed me with the lights and it was a cop.

I was like "man Im screwed". He came off to me as a dick at first but I was polite to him so he quickly changed his mood. Then after checking my license and registration he asked me was I racing the vw? and I said no I didnt even notice him. He said that the VW was also speeding but you zoom right passed him and I heard the tire screeches. He said you obviously was faster than him so I had to get you. Then he said if I wanted I can tow away your car and take you to jail but since you were polite and honest with me Im going to let you go with a ticket. Then he said he understands too. When he was younger he used to own a fast car too. I said what car? and he said Camaro SS and gave me the ticket and walked away.

He didnt check under my hood or anything. He went around my car and look to see if I had a front license plate, which I did and also looked at my exhaust. He even said nice car. But I think he gave me slack because I never had a ticket before for anything! This is my first ticket ever after driving for almost 7 years

damn bs man..but usually the cops supposed to get the faster car..i dunno from friends and personal experience. This happened to me also f**kin around with a gti and i was ahead so yea the cop got me. but popped up outta nowhere. He was coo and just gave me a speeding ticket, and told me the whole impound thing. ticket was $300 haha but damn at least the car didnt get impounded..

i think if you dont have the money up front you can make payments within 48 hours or somethin. they'll work with you but the court system has some jacked up ways with payments and stuff. good luck bro
