I just picked up a 92 accord dx automatic...car is in immaculate shape, however it shifts "late" or "hard"

for each shift I need to let off the gas ever so slightly and the car will upshift, although not as smoothly as I would like...if I don't let off the gas it "hangs" in the gear and will not upshift

the car has 167k on it, well mantained, and is going to be my little sisters new ride, my question is this...

should I do the honda recommended drain and fill (3 times) or should I have the trans flushed with a flush machine?

also does anyone know if these cars have a kickdown cable that can be adjusted?

I remember when I worked at the dealer (acura) they used to have us do a drain and fill 3 times (drain/fill/roadtest/repeat) for certain shifting issues on automatic RL's, but I've never really messed with an automatic honda this old...if this was going to be my car I would just convert it to a stick, but my kid sister needs a car and she can't drive a 5spd

so in summation, 92 accord auto shifts hard, any recommendations?

 

Ive noticed changing fluid in Honda autos helps a lot.

 

Tcu determines shifting times, inexpensive in recking yards but need to be sure that you get the right one, all look alike but are not.
