HELP: TBA Honda Challenge '88 Honda CRX si wont start
I hope I can get help here on Road Race Forum because I know you guys have teared down your own car to prep them to be race cars and I have done the same and I am not getting any help on the CRX forum. I know I am asking a lot since you guys are not in front of the car etc.
Thanks you fellow Road Racers I hope the Mods Stinky Cheese guy does not have a problem this is a Road Race car and I trying to get ready for this weekend event at Cal Speedyway
Specs
TBA: 1988 Honda CRX Si
engine: D16A6 stock SOHC
notes: Car engine is completely stock and wiring system is stock.
NEW PROBLEM:
Now that I am finish with everything and plugged in but wont start.
Description of problem
1. the high beam light on dash is stuck on
2. both turn signal green arrows on dash are on solid
3. When started nothing just cuts out no engine noise or starter and all lights go out.
What I checked
1. Check battery 11v, all fuses, connections, anything noticable, grounds.
2. switched ECU
Need to check
1. Main relay - how do you check the main relay?
2. if starter is getting power when key is turn on so I can chase problem down.
Notes:
Let me know if you guys need to know anything or what should I check or do.
Please help Thanks in advance everyone

First and foremost, Battery should not be 11V, with no accessories on, the voltage should be around 12.2-12.4V
Although, voltage means almost nothing when determining if a battery is good or not. Amperage is what is important. You need test equipment to determine if there is a problem there.
Put a battery in it first and start there.

my main relay started giving me trouble at the last race and finally gave up today. had to pull the car back i the garage on teh starter.
although your problem sounds like bad siring. check the big plugs from the engine harness to the body harness and make sure things are pinned correctly. if so, double check any wiring changes you may have made. you have power/ground problems there.

thanks guys I think I figured it out I have to another spare car and I started to pull everything out main relay, fuse box engine and dash and try to start it at every change when I came to the dash I swicth and then the dash light came on like normal. So brings me to believe it was the that control unit behind the fuse box gray in color or just I did not connect something or crossed a wire or something. So those to problem might have been the case right now I am charging the battery and it sounds like it is going to start. Thanks for eveything HT family as soon as I get some extra time I going to switch the old fuse box back in and see if it starts then it will rule out the control box or a bad connection. See you guys at the track this weekend.
Will keep you posted and post pics for this weekend yeah

Glad to hear you have it worked out.
slightly useful fact... 12.67v is 100% charge on a 12 v battery. 12.45v is 75% Charge on a 12v battery. Anything under 12.2v and the system should be checked for a drain, under charging condition, or a cell on it's way out.

you guys know what it looks like I overlook the resistor and pluged it up wrong I thougt it went to the ac what I bone head move. I will tell you this I will not build another car like this again to much time and money and to many little things that could go wrong next time I am getting a turn key race car if you know what I mean.

Do you want some cheese with that whine? My car had much worse issues when the new engine and harness went in. It literally dumped fuel out the exhaust. Fried a dizzy too trying to get it running as well as the vtec harness. And it ran last season!

Aww Charles but its so much fun to sweat and worry!.
besides there is no such thing as a perfect race car.
There will always be something wrong or something that will go wrong.
Always something you"ll want to improve!
Unless you have lots of money falling out of your behind.. there will always be wrenches to turn.
Keep your head up, and start to make some friends down there.
