go back and have them uninstall it and get your money back.

after that, take your car to a reputable shop that only does alarm installations and isn't worried about how many cars per day they receive.

out of curiousity, what kind of alarm did you decide to go with?

agreeed.. take it back.. im an installer at circuit city and we have standards to meet and it sounds like they did not do it the correct way at all.. something to remember we are corporate and gotta follow rules some shops dont have to even think about meaning every installer installs differently..

I went to several places before I decided on one to install my alarm. I didn't even bother with any chain-stores because I don't trust them. (no offense to anyone that works there) If they give you any trouble, I would look into an independent alarm installation place.

you get what you pay for...

at CC, BB, GG, etc.. all those chain stores. your paying for a basic install... and that is exactly what your getting.. their not going to take out 1/2 your dash to hide the alarm brains, cut the wires and make them stealth/all black, wire them along w/ stock wirelooms, hide the brain, etc...etc..

they do alarms in quantity and do them fast.. your not going to get a top notch quality install anywhere unless you pay for one .....

if you are displeased take it back to the store and talk it over w/ the salesperson and manager.. but I doubt that will solve anything because all they do is basic installs... I would never take my car to any of the chain stores in the first place..

That is not entirely true. Chain stores do tend to want quantity over quality, but i also worked for CC and the district that i worked in was one of the top in the country. Every installer at my store was fast but also professional enough to hide the brain way up in the dash, make the install clean by cutting all the wires to length and then taping and wire looming the wires to make it look factory, so you can't tell which wires go to the alarm.

The thing about CC, compared to a privately owned shop, is that you can bring it back a thousand times until it gets done the way you want it. If they don't then they get in trouble and after so many times can lose their jobs. So we had to do our jobs right and make sure it was right the first time.

You make some good points, but you were at one of a few decent shops in the country. North Carolina stores did tend to do the most volume, and your quality coming out of that shop may have been above par, but unfortunately it is not the same throughout the company. I tried for years to bite my cheek about the installs I would see come in, but eventually it catches up to you as it has been lately with them. I no longer work there (thank god) but I still see their installs from time to time and can't imagine the customers blind assumption of their install. I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen an alarm install come through that impressed me. I have never had to spend more than fifteen or twenty seconds tops finding a brain (unless you had to remove the lower dash piece and then knee bolster) or siren. My manager would chastise me for removing an instrument cluster to hide the brain or backup battery or removing the front bumper to conceal the siren, complaining that I can't expect another installer to be able to find the brain there if need be or spend the time to remove the siren when the car is turned in. What's the point of installing an alarm if the job is thrown together in forty five minutes? It is nice that a customer can bring their car back 'a thousand times' to correct problems but that is still a thousand times to many. I cannot afford to spend an hour fixing an alarm now so the job must be done right the first time, and that is it. Every day installers are leaving for other shops and not looking back. Sounds like you left too, good job. Sorry for being long winded, so in closing, screw CC and go to a real shop.

take it back. make sure they do it right before you leave. i've had 2 systems installed in the past 4 yrs. no prblems w/ CS, just w/ products. but warranties took care of that. you just probably just got some dumb-*** that doesn't care 2 ***** about what he's doing. but get it straightened out. Circuit City does hold a solid reputation for carring lifetime warranties on products.

who cares if they will re-do it 1,000 or even 1 million times for free under "warranty" as a customer does anyone really want to take it into the shop again and again? I know I sure don't.. I'd rather go to a reputable shop that gets it done right the first time and does a quality install.. than to go to a shop that is willing to re-do and re-hack all my cars wiring 1 million times...

Well to tell the truth...there is good and bad with all install shops (mass merchants, chains,ma and pa alike). I personally have been bent over by the 'specialist' as well as a chain store. As I stated before... We as consumers are to blame for this type of enviornment. . We want the best for the least amount of cash spent.....hey its only human. We have grown to expect
the free installation deals...the $ 1.00 install charge....free dash kits and harness..etc,and if the retailer won't/doesn't offer it...humph I'll take my biz to someone who will. For a retailer to be competative...many have to play along, and in most cases service suffers. And when we don't get what we expected,we sceam to high heaven....its the nature of the Beast that we have created.

In all honestly....you can go CC,BB,etc and REQUEST a stealth type install be preformed on your car.....but that costs more money ( and you really don't want to do that,do you?)

You may be able to bring things back to CC a bunc of times, but I went to an independent shop, and I still get free replacement if anything goes wrong, I get free adjutments for the life of my car.. AND best of all I am confident that they did a good job.

THey had found a problem with the parts, and replaced it immidiately, they told me what happened hen I came to get my car, they were already fixing it.

I'm just glad my friend knows how to install alarms and he hooked me up w/ the alarm and installation and I didn't have to go to any chain or independant shops... we've been friends for about 20 years (I'm only 24) so we go WAY back since we were little kids and I know he installed my alarm w/ the utmost quality, care and attention as if it were his own car...and I got a good stealth installation...

Ahhh...the truth comes out... I'm not hating or flaming but...you have an
inside person who can do your car and not charge you full retail...that gives you an advantage over many of the poor souls here who don't have such luck. As for me...I've been installing 12v product longer than you have alive..and I have claimed it as a profession for almost 13 years. I guess that gives me just a little insight into things. I...like many here have worked for Circuit ( 8 years) and we did great work on customers cars ( at the time the median age was 27.5)...we took the time to ask the customer detailed questions on items before any work was to be done. Maybe its was experience or just the fact of why do a crappy job that can cause you to work twice as long. Hey if what you want costs a lil more, why not pony up the bucks... if it fits your needs.

and old friend from high school works there.. I'll refrain from the stories he's told me about "throwing things together in customers cars" I guess for his job security I should also refrain from naming the shop/shop location.. its in So Cali though..

all valid points, but best buy owns about 60% of the install market nation wide. you can get a quality install no matter where you go, you just have to make sure you get a quality installer. we are out there, you just have to find us. best buy tends to drive basic install with acessories. mainly headunits and speakers are their item of choice. i would more headunits in one day at best buy than i do in a week at the shop i work at now. ask the salesmen about the installer and request the one they feel comfortable with (you never know till you ask).
