tired to install some sportlines and.....
like always with my bad luck something had to break . I was working on this with my dad . Front went first and it went very smoothly . Started the back . There we couldnt remove the bolt that connects the control arm to the strut/shock/coil (whatever its called) tower . So my dad suggested that we remove the other two bolts , one held the arm to the fame and the other to the ?brake assembly from the bottom? . Then we could have unbolted the strut/shock/coil tower from the inside of the car and everything would be fine .
Like always me being stubborn i said that it be better not to remove those other bolts and just keep trying to remove the one . Still my dad insisted that we try it the other way . I still said no so he went to try to remove the bolts once again and snap! it broke . Now we removed the whole assembly the way he wanted to do it from the beginning and i had to take it to a mechanic to remove the broken bolt for $10 . He couldnt do it so he used a torch to heat up the bushing so that it would fall out along with the bolt .
Now I need a Bushing (The one that connects the strut/shock/coil tower to the arm) , new bolt . This is really frustrating because my dad is ALWAYS right and I didnt want to do it his way . this really sucks . My car cant be driven untill i get all the parts . I called about 3 dealers . they have the bolts but not the bushing . They said that it will be tusday or wed. before they can get them . SCHOOL STARTS WED. I am so mad . But Ive got 3 other dealers to call tom. because they were closed . I hope they have them in stock .
Does any one know the exact name of the part i need (or part#)
cliffnotes:
- Installed springs with dad
- Back did want to unbolt
- Dad suggested a better way of removing the strut/shock/coil tower .
- I said that i want to do it my way
- My way broke the bolt
- dads way would have worked (it did)
- need new parts
- possibly cant get them in before tus.
- and school starts on wed.
Lesson Learned : You dad is almost 99.9999999999% of time right , and you are wrong

well the control arm was used, but it was $30

i've had these problems also. Had to drill out the bolts on my car and a friends make sure when you put everything back together you use anti sieze then this won't happen again.
Also yes your dad was right you could take the shock out his way but in the long run what youdid is better cause what happens when you want to put shocks in then the bolt would still be siezed. Also try some penitrating lube not WD40 some bolt breaker or something like that.
Good luck

I used my brother-in-laws, sorry i dont know what kind. We went through about 20 discs though. I say everyone should jus get an impact wrench. I rode around on koni yellows in the front and stock in the rear, ride wasnt too bad after i adjusted it, but man a dip in the road sent the nose on a collision course with the ground.

Yah...i had the same problem with my rear suspension, but after i heated up the bolts and FINALLY got those fawkers off, i find out I have a pinched bushing and the strut was wedged between the tower and the lower control arm. Long story short...i had to remove the entire assembly and put it back together with the AGX's and the G/C coils. Glad i only have to do that once!
You didn't detail how dad was right here. You think you could have gotten the screw out AFTER you got it off the car? Don't be so sure. I've seen these bolts rust to the inner sleeve of the bushing and freeze that way. BOTH bolts broke on my 1992 Civic, and my friends 1995 Civic.
Preferred method of replacement is with Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings and new stock bolts. Use antiseize only on the shaft of the bolt and the head. You risk that it might back out if you use antiseize on the threads. Honda puts loc-tite on these from the factory to avoid just this problem.
Future idea - forget the torch and smack the mechanic who torched your bushing. A hacksaw will saw this bolt in two between the fork and the bushing. That way, the bushing would not have been ruined, and you might could have drilled the remaining threaded section out of the shock fork, preserving the parts.
Dad isn't always right. Might have been here, but you need to supply more details.

As far as the part goes... www.hondaautomotiveparts.com You'll find it there cheaper than the dealer. I had to do the same thing..
