Icon2 Apexcone 6,000 HID Kit

Hi,

I would just like to get some opinions on the Apexcone 6,000 HID Kit, is it worth it & what are some pros & cons & which other brands are better? Group 5 is selling them for $160.00

They cost about $60 or so directly from the manufacturer / importer: ddmtuning.com .

Decent kit, decent color. The Apexcone full sized ballast is a good product. Slim ballasts seem to have a little more issues perhaps but it just may be me (and the owner of DDM's comment to this regard).

6000K is slightly bluish purplish. Nice color and not too gaudy IMO. Some peeps want less blue, some more.

DDMTuning has great kits. Get the one w/ a lifetime warranty. I know multiple people who have had them w/o any issues.

I have the $80 5000k slim ballast version. Zero problems other than I had to reverse the plugs but thats only on some cars.

Bulb size, no idea, but most Hondas or 9006. Just pull out the bulb and it should say on the base.

Will you have to reverse the pins? You might. I know on some cars you do others you don't.

What I mean by that is when you plug the kit in, the + wire will be connected to the - wire and vice versa. You don't want that. So you can either file off the "clips" on the plug so you can turn it upside down, or actually cut and solder the wires so they are correct. I cut and soldered them.

Low beam is size 9006 . You shouldn't have to reverse any wires for polarity. I've got a similar car and kit and was pretty easy to install. BTW, I blew out one of my bulbs and DDM replaced the pair, no prob. I had to pay a few bucks to ship back the blown one.

You're welcome!

I am sure you're kit will be fine. I know about 12 people including myself who have had the kits for a couple years without any problems.

Ive had the kit for 6 months. Bulb was likely defective out of the box. Was cooked brown when it went bad. Light turned yellowish compared to my 6000K other bulb. They replaced it quickly. Kit was easy to install for the most part and parts seem good quality.

Entire kit was lifetime warranty so it was no big deal except that I was driving around with a bad bulb for a bit until the replacement came in.

So these kits are plug and play meaning I can take out my stock bulbs and use these instead? The only "work" is mounting the balasts?

Yes They are good HID conversion kits

but $160 sounds deep to me. I bought 6 boxes of those apexcone from DDM Tuning when they have huge sales for $39.95 each + shipping for me and my friends

it's been 8 months, and they never have any issues

Oh man, Apexcone from DDM Tuning is pretty much the cheapest and the best quality HID system plus bulbs I have ever bought. Let's say I bought a set of 55w slim ballasts + Hi/Lo H4 bulbs, they are pretty damn bright and dense I have used it for a month now and so far so good, I can't wait till I retrofit my headlights with projectors.

Oh and I got 5000k bulbs fyi. It is pure white. Matches up to BMW's stock HID kits or that dude had the same kit as me. But yea, if you are planning on getting a set of DDM Tuning kit(Apexcone) you DO NOT need to buy the relay harness seperately, the kit comes with one.... My friend tricked me into buying one... I would post pics but I kinda went under a truck, my right headlight is kinda scruffed up.

Well the site does give you lifetime warranty on the ballast I believe, and so far I haven't found any place that sells slim 55w ballast like this. If you are on a low budget there is a the Raptor ones in the DDM Tuning site for like $70, that also has pretty good reviews.
