i really dont know how much it would cost to convert...i still have the stock ac in my ef2 but haven't used it because im missing the ac fan but would like to keep it r12...!!!
There should be a sticker on the inside of the engine bay that will give you the maximum and minimum amount of refrigerant to use. You should charge the system to the maximum amount but first check to see if you have any leaks in the system, or you'll just waste your money on the R12.
should be about 2lbs use r12 as long as u can find it. converting will to r134a will not cool as efficiently. if u have no experience seek help it is easy to do but can be dangerous to those who dont understand how the system works.

Just talkd to some one and they said ima need a re charge. But the hoses for the can are like 15 $ and the can is 7 buks! Lol but someone said I could get it re charged for about 25$ anyone know if it's true?
r12 is in my car. but i found 12oz cans for 6.99. but the hoses cost 17.99. and the guy at the parts store says that if it only needs a recharge one can should be enuff. but there is a retro fit kit for 35.99 and its r134. should i stay r12 or go 134?
There are people who swear R12 systems are colder, but I've had a 93 EJ1 with an R12 system and a 95 EJ1 with a r134 system and they both felt about the same. If you still have the R12 system, I'd probably keep it there are shops that will charge it for you, but like others have said you have to pay for it. Maybe if you have the refrigerant, you can find a shop that will charge you only labor to charge the system.
...dude, hook me up!! Cant find any r12 anywhere! F@#k the legit r12 to r134a swap..too expensive. And no, theres is not that big of a diff between the 2.
There a place in azusa ca off the 210 fwy calld dicks auto supply they have a **** load of r12 for cheap! Anyone have any r12 hoses they could lend me?? I need ac! Over 95 degrees everyday! Haha
I just need to recharge(according to the guy at da parts store) I dnt even need to release any it recently started gettn warm with the ac on. So he told me that I only need one can maybe two depending on the pressure in the system
You can get a change over kit at your local parts store for around $35 - $45 dollars. It's easy and cheap to diy. And it shuold come with a hose to fill it but you'll not be able to recover the old stuff.
You need both fans to cool properly.
Unbelievable that you found R12 for so cheap. It's usually VERY expensive. $50 a pound about 5 years ago. Made converting to R134 worth it.
R134 works fine, but if you don't do the conversion properly with a complete evac and you end up leaving some oil in the system it's not as nice. If you go 134 you may want to look into getting it done professionally and have them put in some cleaner to get as much oil out as they can. You will also need a new filter/dryer and o-rings to get it all right.... not just the hose adapters you find in the stores.

Yea that's y I decided not to go r134. I read that it's heavier and it requires more to put in so to save the headake I had a shop install it for me. And had a leak test and everything checked out. I only used half a can. But my fan isn't workin. I think it's the relay because I didn't hear it click when ma buddy turned it on. I will change the relay tomarrow and ill update on what's goin on
