There should be a sticker on the inside of the engine bay that will give you the maximum and minimum amount of refrigerant to use. You should charge the system to the maximum amount but first check to see if you have any leaks in the system, or you'll just waste your money on the R12.

should be about 2lbs use r12 as long as u can find it. converting will to r134a will not cool as efficiently. if u have no experience seek help it is easy to do but can be dangerous to those who dont understand how the system works.

r12 is obsolete so if u can find it, its very expensive. r134a is cheep and most shops between 29.99 and 49.99 to evac and recharge. The only question is whats in your car?

There are people who swear R12 systems are colder, but I've had a 93 EJ1 with an R12 system and a 95 EJ1 with a r134 system and they both felt about the same. If you still have the R12 system, I'd probably keep it there are shops that will charge it for you, but like others have said you have to pay for it. Maybe if you have the refrigerant, you can find a shop that will charge you only labor to charge the system.

You can get a change over kit at your local parts store for around $35 - $45 dollars. It's easy and cheap to diy. And it shuold come with a hose to fill it but you'll not be able to recover the old stuff.

Your A/C fan should always be on when your A/C is on. Or your A/C will blow warm air or will not work properly.

Any way to test it to see if it's the fan motor or just wiring?

turn on the ac at idle and let it run till the fan kicks on. if it doesnt kick mon check the fan switch w/a test light or multimeter.

You need both fans to cool properly.
Unbelievable that you found R12 for so cheap. It's usually VERY expensive. $50 a pound about 5 years ago. Made converting to R134 worth it.
R134 works fine, but if you don't do the conversion properly with a complete evac and you end up leaving some oil in the system it's not as nice. If you go 134 you may want to look into getting it done professionally and have them put in some cleaner to get as much oil out as they can. You will also need a new filter/dryer and o-rings to get it all right.... not just the hose adapters you find in the stores.

Yea that's y I decided not to go r134. I read that it's heavier and it requires more to put in so to save the headake I had a shop install it for me. And had a leak test and everything checked out. I only used half a can. But my fan isn't workin. I think it's the relay because I didn't hear it click when ma buddy turned it on. I will change the relay tomarrow and ill update on what's goin on
