mod for mod(i.e. the gsr is modded as much as the single cam) it would be hard to call, but a built and boosted single jingle would walk a stock gsr.

 

I chose my words carefully. I said "most" GSRs. I would be willing to bet that most GSR engines out there are either completely stock, or only lightly modded (I/H/E).
There are of course many built and/or turbocharged ones too. You would most likely have to build and boost the D-series (on higher boost than you would with stock internals) to compete with a turbo GSR. But if the GSR is built/boosted and the D16 is built/boosted, chances are that most built/boosted GSRs would beat you.

 

D's don't need to be built to put a GSR to shame.

Throw a GT2860R/RS/71R onto the D.. and you'll be walking all over GSR's.

Anyway. Don't hate on that comment. I've beaten ITR's with my D. But I've moved on since then.

 

its definately possible?? but mostly only with boost.
my friends stock d15 mini me boosted stock on 8 psi is making 210hp.... he smokes gsr's on a daily. other friend of mine is boosting his z6 on 5 psi...making 160hp 160tq. and he beats b series all the time as well....add pistons and rods and your easily up to 300hp. go fully built and theres d series turbos in the 500's....

 

You need to straight up boost that monster.

You said it only had rods and pistons. Nowhere in your post did you mention that it was turbocharged. Makes a big difference, wouldn't you agree?

If you were reading the posts in order it was implied already that everyone was talking about boosted ones.

 

1. The OP did not mention boost.
2. There were only a couple replies prior to his.

Also, he said "only pistons and rods!" If any implications are being made here, it would be that by saying "only", he means that the only major modifications are pistons and rods.
