Default Autometer AF gauge acting weird

I am not sure if my AF gauge has gone bad or not, but about 3 months ago, the AF gauge started to not turn on when I start the car... but after about 15 mins of driving, it'd come alive. Figuring that my O2 sensor may be fouled, I cleaned with with brake cleaner, and it seems to help. It'd come on after about 5 minutes.

That was with the old motor with leaky rings, so there was some blow by that caked up the O2 sensor.

I have a new motor in there with a new (new to me, it is used with about 30K on it) O2 sensor, and now the AF gauge doesn't even come on after 30 mins of driving.

Is this happening because:

a) My AF gauge is bad
b) My O2 sensor has not reached operating temperature
c) wiring/ecu problems?
d) defection O2 sensor?

Replace the o2 sensor

I did With another one from a GSR with around 30K on it. It is just weird that with *both* O2 sensors, it acts the same.

why don't you check your wiring, maybe loose wires? Really, it's only 3 wires... don't be lazy.

maybe it is the gauge, do you have any freinds that have one? or try the greddy unit, its nice.

if you have a voltmeter, look at the voltage on that o2 lnie.. it should go between 0 and 1 volt, if it's not then your o2 sensors are screwed, though if you have o2 sensor problems i would expect you to see a CEL and probably some drivability problems. It's most likely the a/f gauge wiring....

Car drives fine, idles a little high and rough (1000-1300 RPM). Great advice with the voltmeter. Should I measure ground and the signal wire?

Thanks!

I dont think it is the wiring because it use to come on at 15 mins of driving. And never before that! But I will double check the wiring.. just in case.
