is that expensive i dont think anyone around my area does this...also i was reading somewhere where they tested 3 different ecu's 2 diffferent stock ones and one chipped one and the stock ones performed better than the chipped one and also had horrible gas mileage. is that because they didnt know how to chip the ecu correctly??
chipping can be done many ways. you could make custom tunes (more power worse gas mileage), or you can simply put another stock tune on the ecu making it virtually stock.
I believe you need a your ecu chipped with a P74 tune or sell/trade the P28 for a P74

is the p74 what came with the motor? is there much power to be gained by chipping the p28? would it be an even trade for one or the other like is one worth more i got mine for seventy five idk if thats good but i was told thats what i needed what are th differnces between them what did they come out of??
Sorry I keep posting... Its easier to just make a new post then to edit a post from my phone.
Also you cant just buy the ecu+jumper harness to convert. You also need a obd1 ls distributor, and a 4wire o2 sensor

two good sites for chipping services. you can also find reputable chipping available through some powersellers on eBay.

If you're running a basically stock ls then theres no reason to chip an ecu at all. just run an obd1 pr4 or p75. lastly, if you have the ecu jumper then yes the obd1 pr4 will plug right in.

ok bassically you have an ecu for a 1.6l vtec motor (p28). you have a b18a1, which is a 1.8l non vtec motor. yes you can use the p28 on the ls, but it will run lean, especialy as you get hire into the rpms. lean is bad. it causes detonation, which causes your engine to go BOOM.
so what you can do is have the p28 "chipped" (or re programed) for the b18 specs. this means you will replace the fuel maps from the 1.6l with the 1.8l fuel maps so you wont run lean, and you'll have the propper redline, and everything will work correctly

ok so does any one have a pr4 or p75. ill trade i dont care how much they are worth so far my unaswered questions are will the pr4 harness fit to the p28? not will the pr4 plug into the pr4 harness.. also the xceron has a stock basemap for the b18 but it doesnt state that it will work for the p28 will it?
