Default D Series Boosting; Why so common?

Why is boosting the D Series engines so common, rather than boosting any other series?
I mean wouldn't it be more efficient to see a boosted B or F?
Is it due to the cheap engine price or there compression ratios?

i bought a used turbo kit for my old d series for 315bucks, then it coust me a 200 more to install it, (it was missing some small things oil lines, ect..) then 350 to tune it..

when i blew the motor for over boosting it it cost me a couple hundred for a new one with low miles... and the forged parts aren't that much..

dump 2000 in to a d-series motor and it will go faster then alot thats out there and if it breaks parts are everywhere...

look at the economy its all about the fast on the cheap atm
like how everyone was all about the k series for a while its a phase but with how much power they are making its may not be a phase

probably because its fun.

also you can take a stock d series engine and boost it, have it be faster then most all out n/a builds built by normal people.

You can turbo a d-series for the same or less money than you can swap to a n/a b-series.

So it's all about the budget, not due to th compression ratio... lol

Not always. Sorry guys, I love the D to death. My boosted Y8 was great. But I got my whole LS swap for $750. Made more then that parting the D engine/tranny/axles out. Sorry, but its not always true that its less money. My B18B I got is in excellent shape also. Maybe I just got lucky? Hopefully its more entertaining then the Y8 was. Although I had a LOT of fun with that y8.

here's an idea; majority of the honda enthusiast drives civics and majority of civics come w/ d-series stock. parts are also cheaper and more abundant.

LS is a VERY good engine to boost. Always has been. Just so happens I was able to basically "trade" one setup for the other.... so why not? No matter how you size it up... B > D series.

less crack next time.... wow

i like the boosted d series as there cheap and can make a good DD setup.

but if i'm building a weekend only kinda car the d series is not what will be in it. if that makes sense.
