Newb Prepping for Solo2
Ok, ive been reading over the regulations for what mods you can and cant have on a car and its looking like i would be in the "Street Prepared Category" Im lowered on H&R Sports, Installed a ITR Rear Sway Bar, DC 4-1 Headers, and a slightly modified Intake system(velocity stack K&n filter w/ resonator and misc piping removed). I want to get Koni Yellows before i start racing as well and probably exhaust. These mods would place me in the Street Prepped cat right?
Assuming i know absolutely nothing about autoxing what do i need to know to go and compete? Licenses, equipment, money, etc etc? Can anyone suggest a book i should pick up to learn the basics of what to expect at a meet as well as driving techniques?
Thanks guys, i appreciate it. Im really looking forward to racing soon.

You might check into the STS category. That's where I'm running at right now. 1994 RS with 16" Slipstreams (Kumho 712's), Type-R rear swaybar, pedal covers, and a cheap intake. I think it only takes a drivers license, and some cash. Just pay attention to some of the better drivers. Try to find someone that is running a car simlar to your's and ask questions. Just go out and try it. I have ran two events and I'm hooked.

Volcom: I went to one at Coor's Field and everyone was running in single letter classes like "A-Stock", "D-Prepared", etc. How do those match up with the classes like "STS" that I hear about? Me and some other CO people from Team-Integra.net are thinking about going to the auto-x on September 28th and/or Second Creek on the 29th. Maybe we'll see you there...
Get a good tire pressure gauge & air compressor or air tank. Have 1/4 of the tank of gas. Pump the tires to at least 35-37psi. Have everything fastened securely under the hood & inside the car (gotta pass the tech). Arrive early to the course, so you can have some time to walk the course at least 3-4 times!
And, remember, the fastest way through the turns isn't sliding!
Have FUN!

Weston:
I started off in G-Stock with nothing done to my Integra except some all season crap tires (I beat them up bad in Colo Springs about a month ago). Then I decided to order some slipstreams and better tires. Also, I ordered the rear swaybar. These mods kicked me out of stock and into STS. STS is kinda made for import cars with mods like mine and yours. I'll be there on the 28th. Look for the only white Integra with a Yakama roof rack and thats me. Come say hi so I can put a face with a name.

You might hold off on the mods until you've put your Teg through its paces at a couple autocross events. You will REALLY appreciate the mods afterwards and can track a time difference between you and those who are beating you. Not to say you shouldn't put them on before you autocross, but I think you will better appreciate your money spent.
Stock class doesn't sound like an option for you, but probably one of the best investments you can make is tires. If you are in stock class, then get good racing tires. If you are going to STS, then get a really good street tire. Tires typically make a 1-3 second difference in your times.

Without the exhaust it sounds like you would be in STS. You can check out

As mentioned I would hold off on the mods until you learn how to drive or set the car up and leave it for a while. Changing mid-season only makes things harder on the learning curve. I was told that by a 5 time national champion (who is on the solo2.org board) and from my own experience its true.
