So what is available from HPD that one couldn't find from a Honda dealership/etc? Or are the prices just discounted?

You have to read the actual agreement, according to the specifics of the agreement, any car that's driven on the street isn't allowed to have parts from this program, it's listed under the "Special Conditions Pertaining to Use of Program Parts."

I don't think that they're trying to remove Autocross from their listing, but by proxy any street car cannot have their parts, and since a very high percentage of the autocross cars are street legal and street driven...

A car can be modded, street legal, and trailered to autox events. It would be interesting to get more details as to what levels of motorsports they are supporting (autox, time attack, honda challenge, scca club racing, world challenge, etc.). Personally, I'd like to see a HPD line of parts to support the new STR autox class the S2000 is eligible for.

If you read the info on the site it explains it all pretty well.

To sum it up though... If the vehicle is street legal (ie it is registered) you can't sign up for the program.

Well if you read the rules at being a member......

"Honda Racing Line – Membership Informationhome Honda Performance Development is pleased to announce a new initiative targeted at expanding its presence in the grassroots motorsports market. This new initiative is called the Honda Racing Line. The Honda Racing Line is a club targeted at participants in the amateur and entry-level professional racing ranks who race Honda or Acura cars. The Honda Racing Line will provide its members with a direct connection to Honda Performance Development and its unparalleled record of success at the pinnacle levels of motorsport. This channel to factory support will offer Honda Racing Line members the opportunity to purchase racing-performance parts for expedited delivery. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

In order to be eligible to purchase parts from Honda Performance Development you must be:
  • A registered member of the Honda Racing Line
  • Able to prove current membership in a nationally recognized sanctioning body
  • Able to provide current and official race results from at least two (2) events (results listed as DNS do not count) within the past 12 months
Race results must include:
  • Event name, date and location
  • Name of sanctioning organization
  • Your name
  • Class of Acura or Honda race car
  • Model of Acura or Honda race car
  • Finishing position
The Honda Racing Line club allows members to purchase stock parts for their race cars under the following conditions:
  • Completion and submission of the registration form and meeting all listed eligibility requirements
  • Residence within the continental United States.
  • Membership will typically be open to one driver per registered Acura or Honda race car. If a registered Acura or Honda race car has more than one driver, each driver of that particular car will have to submit a separate membership application.
  • Changes to type of Honda or Acura vehicle raced or category of competition must be forwarded immediately via fax, letter or e-mail.
  • Membership privileges extend for one calendar year (January 1-December 31).
BUILDING A NEW HONDA OR ACURA RACE CAR

If you have an Acura or Honda race car currently under construction and anticipate that it will be finished within the current race season, we will temporarily waive the race-results requirement if you can:
  • Provide a copy of your active membership card in a nationally recognized sanctioning body
  • Provide documentation of the Acura or Honda type, engine and model year you intend to race
  • List the racing class in which you intend to compete
  • Provide a completion date for the construction of the car, and the date of first race in which you intend to compete
  • Provide race results from the car’s first event within 30 days of its completion (results listed as DNS do not count)
PURCHASE RESTRICTIONS/EXCLUSIONS
Accessories, air conditioning components, interior trim components, glass, batteries, chemicals or safety equipment may not be purchased through the Honda Racing Line club.

A maximum order quantity may be applied to any parts order at the discretion of Honda Performance Development.
