Hey i gots a 96 honda civic with a gsr swap with b series ac compressor and 99-00 si condensor ......but my ac for some reason in town doesnt really work too good........only when i drive on a long road or freeway it works good........what can i start checking 1st to solve my problem...........lmk thanx HT

 

What i would do first is take the readings from the low and high side. You could be low on freon. You could have a blockage somewhere in the condenser or evap core. A bad expansion valve. Check the condenser fan motor.

x2. I would first make sure the condenser fan is working when you turn the AC on. Without it, at low speeds or stopped head pressure goes sky high. Even in slow driving around 35-40mph the condenser fan moves faster than windforce can turn it which would give you higher than normal system pressures= less cooling. Other resons are being overcharged/ undercharged/weak compressor but doubtful. Without pressure readings ac diagnosis can only go so far. Without them, you can check fan operation, pay attention to cycle time, adjust the heater cable and thats about it.
