Hey guys,
I know this is late notice, Myself along with a few partners run a double runway air strip 1.1 mile high speed cone course setup here in the Rhode Island area. We have been doing this for 2 years with the help of the owner and renter of the site who has been teaching advanced driving schools for the last 5yrs. We run lapping events every other month on this site. I am exteneding the invite to anyone in or around the R.I area to come down and run with us for the day. The events are $125.00 for 5 hrs of non stop driving. We do not have work shifts here, we don't ask anyone to work, we don't run classes. Run what you brung atmosphere. Cars must pass simple tech and safty only. All drivers must where helmets.

These events are limited to 30 cars and drivers. We keep the group small so that everyone can enjoy the day with minimal waiting in line. Our state has nothing in relations to tracks or driving events, We felt that we as drivers and hobbiests needed to get something going in our area , and with a little work we have put together a really good program.

I have run the program before with Anthony and the air strip a little over 4 years ago before the move to TN.. Great place to test and tune the car. Make sure u bring enough gas cause u can burn a tank full easy.

Correct, 3-4yrs ago we were doing basic driving school events @ $250.00 a person. However it started becomming repetive, so we came up with a fresh idea to lower the cost ($125) and run lap/test and tune events instead, because It is more affordable then the driving school events. Since this new program, we have been getting more and more involvement in short spurts from new drivers this past year so the program is looking good even in these economic times. One thing i think is makin this successful is that we run under 35 cars only and bi-monthly, this gives drivers enough time to put aside alittle each week so that they can enjoy a full day of fun.

I wish more "track day" clubs did this! However it seems like the prices are going UP instead....

 

Neat. I used to live in CT and was a member of the RI National Guard.

Does this take place near the National Guard hangars?

 

Yup, we use the old airstrip out back.

 

Last weekends event went set a recod number of 25 cars (cutoff 35 cars)
