Default D-series parts interchangability and a ?

Ok, I have searched for the topic and got nothing found.

I have the opportunity to buy a JDM D15 VTEC for $250, however, there is no ECU, valve cover, oil pan, oil pump, and distributor. I think that is a bit high for a motor without all these parts. Also, the motor will have to be freshened up before running it as the cylinders have oxidation on the walls. Also, the pistons are Z6 pistons, head is a Z6 head. Is this price too high for this motor as is? What would be a more reasonable price? What will the z6 parts do for the motor performance wise?

Next, with the missing parts, would any D-Series parts work? For example, would the parts off my D15B1 work (oil pan, pump, dizzy and valve cover)?

Finally, what ECU would I be looking for to run this motor in my ED/EF?

Thanks a million, and I appreciate the responses.

not worth it...
the $ you spend on getting that motor running will get you a mini-me setup with MPFI...just shop smart
more compression = more hp + its considered vtec once you swap the head

$250 shipped and we have something I am in Kansas bro. Isn't that motor DPFI? I have a B1, I think...91 Civic STD that is DPFI, and it has no bottom end or top end...but GREAT mileage.

It's a DPFI motor though, right? My goal is to run MPFI, only for the 25-30 more horsepower that you have on tap.

New development on the JDM motor. The oil pump is in it, and I can get an Si transmission for $350 total. I only wonder what ECU I would have to run.

That price would be the Si trans and the JDM D15 which needs work.

With the trans, would $300 be a fair deal, considering the work I would have to put into it to get it ready to swap. I would have to pull the pistons and rods out, hone the bore, new bearings, gaskets, find ECU, oil pan (el cheapo, salvage yard part), valve cover (salvage part) and dizzy (salvage part) and the work. It wouldn't be much work, and I need a winter project. What pistons will increase compression in this motor to the point of running about 10-10.5:1? Thanks again guys.

Rocking! I am not too big a fan of the sedans, but love the hatches. Man, I wish I had the money, right now, I would pick up a winter project motor and actually build it (JDM D15). We have a shop in Kansas City, that has built a 9 second street legal Civic laying down over 800whp, so picking up pistons, cams, etc wouldn't be a big deal.

I am not going to do anything with the JDM motor, but if I buy anything from this guy, it will only be the Si trans. Thanks for the heads up on the bad deal.

http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/c...c/compcalc.php

theres a site you can do a compression calculator to see which pistons would make the compression higher

Thank you! I am also considering doing a Mini-Me swap, in which case, the D15B VTEC head would come in handy, but I have to read up on that one a little more.
