Default bass w/o subs

my friend has a 00 accord coupe with stock speakers and a JVC head unit.i forget what model number but its the metal faced one that plays MP3s. IMO his stereo sounds very nice. bass is nice and satisfying w/o being overbearing. is there any way i can get that in my 96 civic coupe? i have a kenwood 619, kenwood kfc1666 front speakers, and stock rears. would upgrading my 6x9s help at all?

get a nice 7" comp set for the front and some good 6x9's (good meaning not pioneer/kenwood/etc id consider them average)
and then amp both at 50-100 watts each. id still probably highpass as low as your amp can go though (40-50 hz) just so your speakers arnt trying to pump a 30hz test tone

id suggest the new crystals. some have said that they can be played full range with some authority

something like this:
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CRYCXE693 in the back
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CRYCPE60T up front

with a strong amp to power both. you could use either a 4 channel or a 2 channel (run at 2ohms)... if you have the fader set to the middle and like it that way a 2 ch amp would be a good option and cheaper too

hth

edit: those are last years crystals btw. i wouldve suggested this years but they probably have too much mounting depth for a civic. they also cost more.
