Maywood park auto x in Chicago
Does anyone on here ever go out to these events? There cheap as sh$t and I went to a miata event there 2 weeks ago and am planning on going again soon.
I do not participate in any. I do help out at all the Salt Creek Sports Car Club (SCSCC) events and people seem to have a lot of fun. I would definitely suggest trying it out. There is actually an event this Sunday.
I was there last Saturday (Audi Club) and Sunday (Chicago VW). I plan on being there (with a bunch of other S2000's) with the Miata club August 1st. Can't make it this weekend since it's Western Michigan Honda Meet. Miata club is on Saturday and Salt Creek is on Sunday - 2 of my favorite clubs. Salt creek is doing their annual Marque Madness. So go out there and represent for Honda!
Salt creek does on-site registration. But I assume you're not talking about the weekend. Looks you can still register for this weekends wcmc - they also do on site registration though.

HAHA that's funny. I was the white RS cone killer!
And I can't make it this weekend because I'll be out of town, but I am going to the events next weekend.
Check out Planet-torque.com
They have the whole seasons schedule for maywood

Well...I was there spectating. Unfortunately, while doing that I happened to overhear who I think was your girlfriend going on about what sounded like her car, and how she was planning on turning up the boost, taking it to a dyno, etc. I mentioned to my girl that it was totally turning me on, who then got all pissed off. Blah blah blah, she got hissy when I talked about going over to say hi when that girl (the one with pigtails) was by your car. Which was also unfortunately pretty much the whole time I was there.
I was sitting in the orange Mazdaspeed Protege, tall white guy with a brown shirt covered in skulls. I'm getting a good kick out of watching at these, so maybe the next one I'll come without her
I also got to ride with White Pat, and got some pics of Asian Pat driving. I'll throw some pics up later tonight or tomorrow.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Awesome. Yea thats my girl. She actually is pushing about 22psi right now she just wants to get it on the dyno at my shop to see what the improvement is.
that was actually her first auto x/track whatever event so it was getting pretty excited to watch her too.
I'm am going to the Chicago VW event this up coming sunday as well(as long as I get my dumb *** ballloints fixed). But unfortunetly my girl won't be there. So if you wanna bring your girl she won't have anything to sweat over. (and my girlfriend told me to to you to tell your girlfriend she's sorry..)

I lol'd and wish I could be a smooth as you Adam.
Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of Maywood's surface as it is degrading a bit and the lot is smallish compared to Route66. I should be there next week for the Vee dub club with my buddies.

sheesh adam....spectating over and over! LETS GO RUN ONE. -other adam, who has also ONLY spectated and rode along with splitime at events at this parking lot.
LOL
LOL
Eh, I don't really see how it could be degrading. I just see it as a cheap and fun event where your really only competing against your self because there is no real prize at the end. so if you mean degrading because you don't get to stand on a podium at the end and brag to other people that you beat them instead of just doing it for the fun and love of the sport I could understand.
What is this VW event, and where is it being held? I'm not sure what I'm up to so I'll consider that. And tell your girlfriend she doesn't have to be sorry, it's my fault for saying it, and my girl's fault for being stupid and insecure
Nick, you're right, the surface does leave a lot to be desired, but Maywood is half the distance away from me. For spectating, that makes it a winner right away. The roads there, however, are bad enough that I won't take the Civic there. If anything I'd try to sneak the Mazda out or something, but with leaky boost it would be annoying anyway. Co-driving something would be fun though. On the (sort of) unrelated note, you smoothed out about a billion% from that first time I rode with you
Dude, if you make the drive up I'll do one
Also, for anyone interested, I talked with this random guy in a van (NOT down by the river...) who apparently works with the Naperville PD. He told me about how there are night street races in some industrial areas here, with undercover cops getting in and busting people. Seeing the safe and organized thing WCMC had going, he liked how it was keeping the racing off the streets. In fact, he liked it so much that he's going to talk to the PD at some meeting and suggest they get something like that going in Naperville! Pretty cool stuff. In retrospect, I wish I had given the guy my email to help out with it, but he at least has the club info.
On that note, if anyone is participating in said N-ville street racing, sounds like they're pretty serious about dealing with it. You may want to reconsider your continued involvement. /grumpy old moderator.

lol I know, you should've said whats up either way and dragged your girl with. Maybe meeting her would've settled the tension for you.
Go to Planet-torque.com
It has the listing for all the events held at maywood along with what other events the groups hold at other places that go to Maywood.
And yea, I can agree with the drive there and back makes me want to flip out everytime. They suck.
Is there a site I can check out to see the events held at Route 66?

She gets weird about that kinda crap, it was better to just let it alone. Maybe next time she won't be so stupid about it.
I haven't been able to find a site that covers Rte. 66 specifically, but I know one of the local SCCA clubs uses that lot.

I couldn't even tell you that. I've only been there once for an SCCA event. It wasn't bad, but the Maywood Park one I think is more fun, just from virtue that you get like 3-4X as many runs. The 66 lot is a lot nicer, pavement-wise.
hmm, yea considering I don't ever really hit any dips or potholes at maywood, i'd rather get more run time. but I wouldn't mind going up there for a couple.
You gonna come out this sunday stinky?
Didn't you say you took pics at the last one too?

I might come Sunday, gotta see what the plans are for the weekend. I did take pics at the last one, just gotta put them online. They didn't turn out as well as I expected though
If we happen to both attend sunday, you can wedge yourself in the CRX.
I have a ticket for Lolla on Saturday and I'll have to try hard to make it Sunday
