for those of you that run E85 on your way to work, what kind of gas mileage do you get? What does E85 cost where you live? what does gas cost where you live?

 

my roommate runs E85 on his cammed/bolt on evo making 400/400 and he gets around 12-18MPG...depending on his driving habit.

 

so what does E85 cost there?

 

89 octane costs about $2.39 here, E85 cost around $1.99. I haven't converted my POS to ethanol yet, but I'm curious to see the responses to this thread...

 

gas prices change too much to discuss cost. but mileage i get 25-27. a good tuner can get you the mpg

where a good place to get tech info on E85? IE how do EGTs differ from petrol at the same HP levels?

 

Damn! 12 mpg sucks. E85 is $2.01 here and I get about 23 mpg on my B18

 

In general terms, a gasoline motor that is properly tuned will consume ~30% more ethanol than gasoline. However, a motor that is specifically built for ethanol (ie, compression so high that it wouldn't run on gasoline) could hypothetically get roughly equal gas mileage while producing equal or better power.

Any non-mechanical tuning tricks you can use to optimize fuel efficiency on ethanol could be equally translated to gasoline, still resulting in the ethanol-burning gasoline engine getting less mileage in the end.

is this with your 494 hp motor? now your not saying 28mpg shifting at 2K rpms are you? im talking normal every day driving.

 

My 23+ mpg was daily driven in the city with 430whp (I'd like to say I boost a lot too)

 

yup my motor exactly i can drive from here to kc and back on a tankl thats 135ish miles one way, and its sumped so there is more left in the tank. If you think I stay around 2k rpm's you got issues lol
