Default Mr. DeOro EF w/ B18C

Hello Honda-Tech,

My name is Carlos DeOro I am an Automotive Instructor at ATI Technical Center. I am new to honda-tech as a member. I have however been reading honda-tech for sometime now.

I just bought an EF and I thought I would create a build thread so that my students can also look at my build and get some what inspired.

I bought about a week ago a 1990 Honda Civic HB w/ B18C1. How ever the seller claims to have put type R internals. The purchased cost me 2,000 dollars.

There is a bunch that must be changed just so that the car runs the way it should. Here are the reasons why its not running right.

- GSR Manifold has the Secondary Butterflies shut closed
- OBD 0
- GSR Cams
- Factory Exhaust piping with loud and annoying muffler.
- No intake
- Dropped with Dropzone springs and have really bad camber.
- Clicking Axles

That is just some of the things. It also has a really ugly front bumper. That when given a chance I will rip it off.

I plan to fix these things and continue to restore and create quite a driving machine. My goal is to have a very well balanced vehicle. I will be doing from Suspension to Engine Mods.

I am not going to put a parts list of things I would like. I am however gonna build this thing.

Here are some pics of the car the day I bought them. Let me know what you think!!!

So as soon as I remove that front bumper I will be concentrating on replacing the front axles. Then, I am fixing that camber.

congrats on the find...glad to see that you're saving yet another civic from those evil ricers.

leave a little negative camber, have the toe zeroed out and you will be fine...oh and get rid of that crap suspension ASAP

Ohh and get this... the guy that sold it to me threw in the type r cams and some 16 inch Rota Circuit 8 wheels. I just wish they where the 15 inches... I'll be selling those Type R cams soon though. I'm gonna end up going with the Skunk 2 Stage 2 cams.

i wouldn't go with the stage 2 until you have a real nice header, intake manifold and exhaust. i think you'd be better off with the stage 1 if it really doesn't have the type R piston

I just want to point out that you could probably sell your "ugly" front bumper, as it looks like a wings west bumper. these are pretty popular as far as body kits go. maybe one of your students will buy it.

and like ej1love suggested you should edit you licence plate number out of your photos.

Well, my intentions are to do the Stage 2 after the intake manifold and headers. Im also planning on going with 75 shot later on. i havent really done much research on it yet. So i dont really know of the set up I want.

Thanks guys!!! I appreciate the great comments. I will be posting an update very soon i was able to do DO a couple things this weekend...

Ohh... And I posted up the bumper on Craigslist. I've already had a couple of calls for it. LOL....

Also, I raced a S2000 that claims to be stock with a Cat back Exhaust.... He took me from a 40 roll. I lost by about 1 1/2 cars.

Ok, so I have decided that I am going to beef up the suspension first. Here is my list.

Skunk 2 Pro C Coilovers
Skunk 2 Lower Arm Bar
Skunk 2 Rear Arm Strut Bar
Skunk 2 Rear Lower Control Arm
Tanabe Sway Bar Front
Tanabe Sway Bar Rear
Password JDM Front Strut Bar
Hyper-Flex Energy Suspension Bushings

Let me know what you guys think.

Ok so I have been working on the car for a little I haven't really taken many pictures. Let me show you what I have been doing though.

I am removing the dash so that I can gut all the insides and so that I can paint it all black.

That is the evap case I am trying to get to.

I finally took the wings west bumper off... the radiator makes it look like I have an intercooler..
