Some H22 info??
OK i am just starting to get into the whole import racing scene so i am not to familiar with everything yet. I have a 93 Prelude Si automatic with an H23. Now i was wondering if and H22 with v-tec would bolt up to my tranny?? And also wut i would have to change to accomidate it. So if someone would just give me some info thanx..
I'm pretty sure an H22 wouldn't work with your automatic h23a tranny. I believe you can buy JDM H22's with an automatic tranny though. IMO, you should just learn to drive a stick and go manual.
it will bolt up. think about it if a 5-speed h23 tranny will bolt up to both the h22 and h23 then the blot pattern's on the block are the same, so its going to be the same on the auto's, it would cost honda too much in prodution cost to change it.
the questions you want to ask yourself is, are the gear ratios' the same. if there not you wont get the full potantial out of it (not that you will w/an at anyway, but you see my point). after that you will need an at h22 ecu, and an h22 tcm. if you dont get the tcm it will run but it will shift at h23 shift points and hardly be in vtec. you may also need h22 torque converter, this would be a good time to go and up grade that w/higher stall speed and holding capabilties.
btw-someone on here had an at h22 ecu for sale for cheap so ask around,k also somone just did this reacently on there wife's car so again ask around...good luck
also if you had the time and pataince to switch to manuel, i dont think it would be that much more if you did it your self, also i have the engine for sale, in my classified post i said it has bent valves, but i have 2 different heads so depending on what you want will depend on how much. just let me know and ill help you in any way that i can.
