Diamond in the Rough!!!!!
My dream finally came true. A month or so ago my father was looking at an old house for sale near where I live and noticed something very interesting across the street under a carport. He knew that I was looking for another EG hatch or preferably a CRX. Sure enough what he saw was a black CRX that had been sitting for awhile, seemingly not running. The amazing thing was that is was an Si and the body was straight. We went by the house twice over two weeks and knocked but no answer; the second time I left a note on another car in the yard asking if they would consider selling. Low and behold last Saturday that call came and the guy was in desperate need of money. Turns out, he's owned the car since NEW in 1990 and it has 234,000 miles. He parked it still running, however, he said he thinks it has either a blown head gasket or cracked head. I bought the car today for a VERY reasonable price and I simply cannot believe my eyes. The car is perfectly straight and the interior is as good as you could ever want from a 1990 model. All the panels are there and unmolested. The driver seat is ripped a bit but why would'nt it be.
He explained that countless people had badgered him over the years to sell it and he denied and wanted to keep and restore. He ran into hard times and it is a blessing for me now. I will post pics tomorrow when I pick the car up. Its extremely dirty but I cannot wait to get the dust off and show you that they DO still exist out there. I'm posting here because I will need help restoring the car and hope you can provide good advice.

No, i'm actually scared to start it since its been sitting since 2006. I'm going to trailer it home, completely degrease and pressure wash it, change the oil and see if I can get it started. I will try to diagnose the problem then. I'm doing my best to fight off the tuning urge, however, if it needs a new head then I'm thinking I will build the head or buy an already built head that will fit on that block. I have not explored the options on this engine. I've heard of the mini-me but I'm not sure I want to venture into adding VTEC right now unless its extremely simple. I've read a how-to article on the B16/18 swap but money is tight for a little while. I just want to drive it and slowly morph it into what I want.
ooh fun, i'm kinda excited. cant wait to see some pictures lol. wish ya luck on the engine situation. i'll be curious to see if the powerplant is salvageable or if you end up needing a new one altogether.
Yours has been sitting for alittle bit longer then mine but i found mine the same way. the last inspection date was 4/07 i think and all i did was put a new battery in it. It had half a tank from 07 and i drove it like 30 miles. haha thing was a tank. good luck with everything

Camera in hand. A huge storm came out of the Gulf for hours this morning but I think I will get some sunshine and get it on the car trailer this afternoon after work. I may need a refresher course on posting the pics but I do still have a photobucket acct. if I need to copy from there.
Can you believe it? I mean maybe its not that amazing to some but I truly thought I would NEVER find one in this condition. Tomorrow is the day I will try to start it.
