Default Ipod cable for factory stereo

I've been having a frustrating time trying to find a cable that fits directly into the factory stereo. Does anyone know if I can just purchase a cable that fits directly into the CD changer without an adapter, etc? I do not want to control the iPOD from the deck. Just want it to charge.

Searched the forums but most seem to suggest a FM transmitter which I do NOT want to use. Tried the tape adapter which works ok but now I just want everything hidden.

I would prefer to keep everything stock which is why I am going through this hell.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply. Like other sites, they offer adapter kits which cost over 100 dollars. I am looking for just a cable that will plug right into the CD changer slot on the back of the deck. Once I click CD, the Ipod will be ready to use.

Just wondering if anyone has done this to their tegs.

I have not heard of a straight plug in play from i pod to factory radio before.

All the ones that I have worked with in the past has a box that translate the signal so the i pod recognizes what functions you would like to perform. Also lets the radio see that there is a changer so that you can use the CD feature.

you cant use the cd changer port. the only way to charge and or control a ipod is with a USB based out put. just upgrade your head unit most stereos now adays have ipod control and charging standard. i have a pioneer head unit in my civic and my iphone plugs right into it. as far as being hidden goes i routed the usb cable under my console and mounted it so that all i have to do is plug the iphone in using the white charger cable that came with it and go. here is a pic .

Thanks Boosted.. Guess I have no choice but to upgrade the head unit. BTW, not sure if this is considered a PM topic but your setup is pretty sweet. I am assuming there is a USB cable from the head unit to the arm rest. My question is did you make an adapter to fit the USB cable onto the armrest or can you purchase it?

Thanks!

Why not buy a cd player that has a free ipod adaptor?

Yes there are adapters for stock HU that will allow you to use the CD port as an AUX input, charge the iPod and even give you a few functions, none of these will just be a cable, there will be a "box" and they are all in that $50 - $150, [or more, depending on what it will do] range.
You can make your own with $35 - $40 in parts but it will not charge the iPod or have any other features, better to buy one.

Best bet is as mentioned replace stock HU with an iPod "ready" HU, run iPod cord to glove box/console box plug iPod in and have full function control from HU. 94
