Default f22a1 mods?

I had found out that h22 and f22b(?) heads were compatable with f22 blocks, and did some searching and read also that f22a6 parts (cam, manifolds, etc.) increased power in f22a(?) engines, I was still a little unclear though, does any one have any input about what works? Thanks.

I did a little more reading on the H22 head swap, but was still curious if finding and installing the f22a6 parts in an f22a1 was worth it? Even though it would be a nice excuse to take things apart and put them together again. lol

i don't know the exact output numbers on the A1 and the A6, but what ever that difference is in power/torque all comes from the intake and exhaust manifolds, slightly different cam and ECU.

so if you put in a "bigger" cam, a good exhaust and the A6 intake manifold then get it tuned, you should expect to come out a bit ahead of the stock F22A6 (depending on the cam you use and how well it's tuned.) you decide if it's worth it for you. and keep in mind that the H23 plenum should do a little better than the F22A6 and is a direct bold on.

I didnt know you could mate the h22 head with the f22a1 block. Sounds like fun.

haha.. all you have to do is post a question about making power or building an all motor F22A... almost guaranteed to get: "just drop an H22 head on and call it a day... or boost it, those are your only options..."

it's also handy if you destroy your H-series block. you can replace it with the ferrous-lined cylinder F22/F23 block and retain the H22/H23 head.

I have a 93 EX, with the f22a6 and was wondering what I could do with it too. Is there any pistons out there to boost compression? Is that a good route to go? Or lightweight crank?

i understand the draw to ask a question in a thread that applies to your situation.. but this is what's called threadjacking .

for most cases i would suggest you start your own thread, but this topic is comming up daily... do some research. try the Accord FAQ, try Bisimoto.com, F22parts.com. you can try CB7tuner.com, that's a good place to research if you still want to know more specifically.

I'm sorry I thought the question kinda pertained to the topic on the same engine. I didn't think he would mind. I don't know why you guys act like this. Sorry Bright13.

no, i should be the one to say sorry. i did kinda go overboard... . i'm just tired of seeing kids jump on and muddy up good informative threads with common sense questions.. didn't mean to take it out on you.

you're right, since Bright13 was cool with it it fits the thread.

on that note: if you havn't heard about or visited those sites i posted, i do still suggest it. esp. when working with an F22A6. what i understand to be most effective is a compression bump and valvetrain upgrade... say a "bigger" cam and little compression with a good tune, maybe port work.

i don't know what pistons would fit your stock bore to boost compression. the block i'm working with is the F23 so the stock bore fits K20 pistons.
