Icon6 Harness problem

I pulled out the D16a6 in my ef so that I can rebuild it.

While I am rebuilding my a6 im putting a D15b7 mated with an a6 head in my ef. The research I did on HT, I thought, said everything would work fine.

While attempting to reconnect some of the harness to the new engine I ran into a problem. There is no spot on the D15 block for a thermo sensor like there was in the D16. The location on the D16 is right around the oil filter.

Did Honda do away with this sensor? Or did they relocate it?

Also, ideas on how to get around this? I need help quickly because im supposed to take this car on a road trip to Iowa thursday evening. Thanks in advance!

any ideas?

Im thinking im going to have to splice the D15 sensor in place of the D16 and attach it in the stock(D15) location.

Anyone think that will work?

you kind of confused me the way you wrote that, but i think you have it right. you need to extend the wires that are sitting near the back of the block to the side of the head and connect it to the fan switch on the thermostat housing.

Precisely. But only because it's an obd1 block. If it were a d15b1 or b2 then the sensor would be on the back of the block.

it is not on the head itself - it is on the thermostat housing where the lower radiator hose connects
