my check engine light came on and my car is rejecting scanners..it is a 96 with a type r swap. the light is off when i start the car and after driving for a few min it pops on and the car wont cross over. this all started when my battery died the other day and i cant figure this out.

 

it might be an issue with the plug. make sure all the wires on the back of the OBD plug are in tight. the only other thing is the scanner might not be good. ive had that happen plenty of times in the shop i work at. autozone does a free scan, check there. also cover your bases, check al the fuses and make sure the aletrnator is charging the system. sometimes its the simple stuff that gets you.

 

it rejected 4 diff scanners lol so idk what is going on. i'll check the wires and check some fuses. ive driven the car a bit after the new battery so i assume the alt is charging fine.

 

do you have a test light? if you do check to see if you have power at the DLC with the key in the on position or the car started. if no power check the fuse that the DLC run off

 

ok i'll check that first thing tomorrow. car is outside in the dark

 

you can use a paperclip and jump the plug under the passenger dash and count the light. the Haynes manual will tell u how to do it.
