Hey i got an auto crx 1990 and have two problems that is an often problem for a 20 tear old tranny.

1. hard jump feeling from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd when the car shifts
2. shuttering and studering when i am in reverse and hold the brake

what kind of liquid should i put in the tranny to help this out? or should i just change the tranny fluid first and see if the problems go away?

change the fluid and filter
use Honda atf for best results

 

There is a tranny filter? Never knew that. But yes I already bought some fluid from the dealer

Sounds like you actually might be in gear by how your car shutters when you are in reverse with the brake on.
Try adjusting your shift cable.

 

If your transmission is an automatic, you will have a filter. A 5 speed manual does not. Use Honda MTF in a standard shift transmission.
