Is 400 a good price on fat fives
You better see your reflection for that price. IMO, they are decent, but I wouldn't pay that much for them. Maybe, $275 for the most part. But with new tires eh? WHat kind of khumos?
For that price, you can get a set of LS mesh or even GSR blades with good tires. Unless fat five are your style, they normally go for $250-300 w/ new or used tires. But, each area of locations may differ in value.
are they the fat 5s? and do they have pics, depending on the condition and tire tread id say its a good deal. BUT id like 2 see em

it all depends on the tires.
of course...now i'm thinking. there's been this whole new backlash of the "stock look" in the past year or two. wingless, slammed and on oem wheels. i'm not sure where it came from

depending on what kumho tires. some of them like the ecsta are only like 52 bucks brand new. so thats 200 for tires. i wouldn't pay 200 for fat fives, but thats just me.
Yup. The wheels themselves might be worth $200 if they're in good condition (which is a big "if"). As for the tires, 50 percent of the pro-rated value when new is generally a fair value for tires when you're buying them second hand (because you wouldn't pay for the full new value, otherwise you'd get them from the dealer). Here are two examples to show you how to calculate this and how much this can vary:
1. The guy is really telling the truth and the tires are BRAND NEW, Kumho Ecsta XS, those new supersticky tires that are good for street and track. In 205/50-15, the Tire Rack charges $88 each, so that's $352 for a set of four. Half of that is $176. So yes, with four new XS tires worth $176 second hand and good condition wheels worth maybe $200, $376 is a fair value for the whole package, and $400 is a fair price.
2. The guy looks at the tires and sees that they have some tread depth and tells you they're just like new. Let's say these are Kumho Ecsta AST all-season tires, which the Tire Rack sells for $56 each. Those tires have 10/32" of tread depth when new. But let's say the tread depth on these tires is measured and it turns out it's actually 6/32". That means the tires have 50 percent of their tread life remaining (because by law they must be replaced when they reach 2/32"). So in this case the tires would cost $224 when new, but half of the tread depth means pro-rating them gives you $112, and taking half of that because you're buying second hand tires means they add $56 to the value of the wheels ($200). So in this case, the wheels and tires would be worth $256, and $400 is not a good price.

two words...HELLLLLLL NO! thats expensive. i dont care if it came with new slicks....well depends what kind. anyways, i wouldnt pay that much for stock rims. like someone said you can get the si's or blades for that price with good tires. and yes they are stock since you're going for the stock look. i see fat fives going for like 200-250 with good tires all day. look somewhere else man.
Which means they keep getting cheaper, due to inflation. Heck, with today's recession inflation, that makes them quite a bit cheaper than they used to be.

here's a chart spanning ten years for you. notice the blue line spike in 2008 when the effects or high commodities finally start to show themselves. the brown line is figured without food and oil, which of course is a big driver of inflation, or at least was most of our last bull market. that's why the charts are often a couple points apart except for that blip in late 06 to early 07
yes i know this has nothing to do with fat 5's
just felt like being educational
I don't - but this is probably because I have a different idea of "good tires" and "good condition wheels". You can indeed find sets for $200-250. Typically the tires are really crappy tires, like the half-worn Kumho AST in my example (or Falken Ziex all-seasons) that are really only worth about $50 or so, and/or one (or more) of the wheels has bad curbing or gouges.
Feel free to PM me with an example that disproves this. If you can find a set for $200-250 in good, undamaged condition with good tires (e.g. Yokohama S.drive) instead of crappy ones, please send me a link via PM - I'll buy them myself.

i mean new kosei k1's are 115 a pop @ tire rack and the TR c1 wheels are only $99 a pop. both of these are real 15x7's and lighter than the oem stuff, not to mention about 1000x better looking since you don't see them on every F'ing corner

nsxtsy gave a great explanation of the real value, but, we are talking fat 5's. they aren't a highly prized wheel. Especially when you have guys selling their JDM 15's with decent tires already for 150 more, or even knock off's. But its all relative to what the buyers taste is. I wouldn't though. Shop around.
Thanks guys for the responses.
Nsxtsy- Their AST all weather. Tire rack going for 56? Locally they were going for like 90 a piece. So a set of four would be like 360. The rims itself are 200 for all four. So thats a total of around 560. They guy is selling it for 400. So his losing about 160.
Thoughts?
