Need all the help I can get!(please read)
Hey again everyone. It has been a little over a year since I bought my s2000. During the past year I have been trying to get my roof patched through my Honda dealership and nothing seems to work. They are using the procedures laid out in their TSB, or repair manual or whatever it is. Basically, the roof wont accept any form of patch or glue for more then a week or 2 at the max.
The purpose of this thread is to gather as much information as I can about the roof issue, and find out what Honda US has done to help its customers. Honda Canada doesn’t even recognise the premature wearing of a roof as a problem, they say its only a problem on US models, which it clearly isn’t. I know some people have had their roof's replaced, and some people have had this problem solved by other means. Please give any information you can, so I can file a letter to Honda Canada and hopefully resolve this pain in the *** issue.
Thanks everyone!

Well the SOP for the soft top patching is really just a temporary fix. Unfortunately for us the only real way to really fix it is to replace the top all together. There are a few diy's on soft top modifications to "pad" the areas that are prone to wear fast.
Sadly the soft top design is flawed.

I had a couple of spots on my passenger side that were starting to wear thru to the point where it would leak when it was raining. I went out to a fabric store and got a few pieces of heavy duty canvas fabric, then went to Advance to get some Goop adhesive. I cut out the canvas pieces I needed applied the Goop per directions and put the patch over the wear spots. I did it as a temporary fix but its been a few months now and its still holding while not allowing any water or anything to get inside.
If its a small wear I recommend this as it only cost me $7 or so for the Goop and fabric rather than the cost of getting a new soft top and having it installed. I put the top down quite often and its still holding so if its an option for you, I recommend that route

I have tried patching it. I even had Honda order in the proper material that the roof was made with, and the adhesive that honda recommends for the patch. I have also tried a ton of other adhesives with no luck. Basically what the dealership told me is that they would like to see my roof replaced, and after all this hastle, i would too. I just need to document as many cases as I can so I can submit a letter to Honda Canada. I know some people in the US have had there roof's replaced under warrenty.(which is the route I am currently trying to take)
