Default HONDA CHALLENGE @ pocono -recap-

good weekend for most of us. everyone kept it out of the wall, including Michael Fries when he spun in nascar t1 and a good 115-120 (www.vimeo.com/5671542 at the 24:20 mark)
the quick recap for H2 is brian's new motor went boom. something in there let go and smashed up the spark plug. jim hovey is movin' good now with a new jdm C5 in his coupe. he took pole on sunday and won both days (i had pole saturday)
pete shwats broke a trans in the prelude and had to drive all the way home to get the spare. but he got it all in and ready for qualifying on sunday. mr belski finally got the bugs worked out in his new H2 set up but fell victim to the first turn mess on saturday along with erik olson. both came out without damage, but at the back of the pack.

H1 had the rookie Brett Sandberg on the pole both days in the ex-MLR H1 ITR and picking up the win on both days. Fries was fighting with a sketchy S2000 all weekend that would finally bite him in sundays race (see video)

all in all, everyone had a good weekend. nasa-ne puts on a great event complete with a theme bbq saturday night, musical chairs and a drift demo later in the evening.

more info will be posted on the website honda-challenge.com, resutls can be found on mylaps.

Andrés, i'm stealing your FB photos!

more pics and video to come.

This weekend was amazing! My first HPDE after about 3-4 autox seasons and I'm just blown away...My car (k20a Civic Hatchback) handled amazing and loved climbing until almost the top of 6th. Meet some really cool people this weekend, the Honda Challenge guys are really cool and helpful and I hope to be racing with them but in H1 soon. Last but not least, I hate you Spence. You finally made us man up and do it and im sure we'll be back out soon.

I really need to wash the CRX!

Great pictures Andres, you caught some really good moments there, I like the shot you got of my CRX and Mikes S2000 with Erik and I talking to him. Were you able to get home without any issues and get the tow vehicle's ignition repaired?

Spencer, you got the new guys to finally take a hit on the go fast crack pipe, they'll be hooked like us in no time.

It was so nice having a weekend free of problems. My electrical gremlins were related to the datalogging cable that I had plugged into my ECU, as soon as I removed it the car ran fine. I think the new dizzy helped too. My new radiator also kept the car nice and cool however a proper fan is needed as the car started to get warm when we came in for the black flag all during practice. The car seems to be working much better now but I still need to figure out how to get a few more ponies if I want to be able to keep up with you guys on these longer courses.

Gentlemen, I must say I enjoyed just about every minute of the HPDE experience; From the track experience to almost breaking my ankle getting the bolt loose on the Prelude tranny lol

I cant wait for the next HPDE and to continue the journey to getting the hatch ready for H1.

Cool cars and I'm happy to see H1 still have competitors and looks like there might be new people joining H1.

Yes dude we made it home good. I've gone to the junkyard and autoparts looking for that part to no avail. Gonna have to pay dealer bucks for the whole assembly i guess. Thanks for you help!
