Default turn flasher issue

ok so i jus bought this ef hatch the other day as a daily while my 04 undergoes a tsx swap. i pick this car up for $1500 w/ a clean body, no rust, good paint and low mile Si swap. car ran good and drove ok. some minor things needed attention.

i take the car to work (25 miles each way) for the first time. turns out the gauge cluster is a lil wacky. fuel gauge didnt work and speedo. i ran out of gas, while i was pulled over waiting for gas i figured id pull the cover and check things out. the speedo was unhooked, easy fix. put everything back on, get my gas and drive it home. im in the driveway now tinkering with it cuz the speedo was sittin on 10mph at a stop and the gas gauge was a lil high when i was on an empty tank. someone had clearly been in this cluster before....not very carefully i might add. so i reattach everything (car running the whole time) and next thing you know the four ways go out and now the flasher is buzzing and smoking. i yank it fast.

i lost all signal to the blinkers and my tach, temp, fuel gauge and what not. i go to the fuse panel under the hood and the fuse closest to the firewall and the passenger fender was blown. i put another one in and it blows immediately.....what could this be?

thanks all in advance

p.s. sorry for the long post but i wanted to be as descriptive as possible

replacement from a donor. i noticed that everything went out when i was reconnecting my hazard switch...possibly a short in the switch? my high/low beams and all still work.

i put a new turn flasher in and it fried it in like 2 seconds.

you probably have a short in the donor harness...remember the donor harness is over 18 years old and somewhere in there it might have a exposed wire grounding out...best bet would be to go through each wire and look for burnt and exposed wires

found and exposed wire that decided to melt itself to another wire...green w/ blk tracer and green...one was suffering from a lil bare spot that seems to have shorted out and molded the two into one. i removed it and taped everything up now im just waiting to see if the new relay lasts. and that will be about the shortest wire short in history lol. i hate wiring!

thanks for the help ill keep you posted.

Do you have a DMM? I might be able to walk you through it.
