I just looked up the part numbers for both the sohc and dohc and the rear main seals are under different part numbers.
DOHC Part Number:1094004
SOHC Part Number:18486

as soon as you take out the seal you risk damaging it. it might not be "noticiable" but you know that it is worn none the less.

rear main seal is a littel bit more time-consuming then any other seal on the car. i personally would hate to do it twice if need be.

Honda Part Numbers:

91214-PLE-003
91214-PH1-013
91214-PH1-004

These are just different manufacturers of the rear main seal, but all three of these part numbers come up on a D16Z6 and B16A2 when I checked www.hondapartsdeals.com

your quoting me for what reason? i understand they are the same. OP risks damaging the seal by removing it. then risks damaging that same seal by installing it. not to mention that seal is worn so he is installing a worn old seal?

if it works....grats. if it doenst work...dam.. would hate to do it all over again with the purchase of two main seals then (one for each engine since both engines wont have seals)

this wouldnt be a problem BUT the job to remove the seal is a littel mroe time consuming then lets say...a vavle cover gasket.

My bad man, I clicked quote because you were the last reply, just forgot to delete the quote bs, there was no particular reason for it. But you are 100% right, I guess when removing the seal its not a big deal if you damage it since it is being replaced. But there is a risk of damage if not installed properly as well.

Yeah it should be one of those part numbers, I got them right from www.hondapartsdeals.com which is a Honda Dealership that just sells parts online.
