Default Racing wheels... safe?

I want to put a racing wheel in my car but I am worried about something. Where does the airbag go? Is it possible to put an airbag into a racing wheel? I mean it sound kinda dangerous to drive around with a racing wheel. Also whats the point of those wheels that pop off so people can carry them around with them, I think thats retarded and pointless.

the point of the wheel being detachable is so you can get in.. in like an f1 car, the wheel detaches, you get in, and attach the wheel.

but most people with hondas get it because its 'cool' or from a security aspect... maybe even for a small diameter wheel.

I just put my air bag in front of my cluster and used some JDM duct tape to hold it in place...

really dont do that though... you need to tune it with CROME if you want to do that.

ok enough with the jokes. You could just look for an airbag steering wheel that will work for you. A used OE JDM wheel may give you what you are looking for while still being able to keep an airbag.

you wouldn't think it's retarded and pointless if your car had ever been stolen/attempted stolen/broken into like my EM1 did about 5 times! Me having that removeable steering wheel with a lock over the hub (along with a few other things) prevented the thieves from actually being successful in stealing my car! you put in a removeable / "racing wheel" in your car, you lose your airbag. plain and simple.

either airbag or not, ull have to settle with a stock momo to keep the bag. no way to have a real racing wheel with one...

What's the point of you wanting to do it then? Just get one. But this is coming from a vw person tht had old vw beetles, where the door was as thin as a peice of paper.

What? Do you even know how the SRS systems work?

I wrote a tutorial for Accords on how to bypass SRS and have the passenger airbag still functional. Should be similar for the Civics.

I honestly am not a big fan of air bags either. Once you hace had one go off in your face in a minor fender bender, and had the air bag itself going off cause the most damage to the vehicle, not to mention the rug burn to your face, you may re-think air bags.
I know, safety first, but thats just my opinon of airbags.

Air bags can actually kill you in certain situations and so can a seat belt. I know ive seen plenty of horrible accidents over the years. IF you put a detachable steering wheel on your not gonna have a seat belt.

Im guessing he meant that removing the factory airbag stops the factory belts from locking in a traffic accident. Though I would think this only would happen if the whole SRS system was removed. Otherwise im lost.

Maybe i missed something.

How do you get an airbag in your face if you wear your seatbelt like you are suppose to?

I had that happen to me. I had my seatbelt on. I bumped a pole in a parking lot. No exterior damage to the vehicle at all. The air bag deployed. Gave me some crazy rug burn on my face, cracked the winshield, cracked the platic on my gauge cluster.... then again it was in a Saturn ( give me a break... I was 17)
