Default Which is the better engine?

For my 96EK I want to do a swap and live in CA so I have to go USDM and my year or above, so one of theses.

Question though.

-Why is the b16 more expensive?
-It has much more miles and less HP.

hmotorsonline, have b16a engines but more than half off of the price listed there, that prelude motor is HEAVY. and the gsr is just plain expensive ( i cant justiyfy spending more money on a NA engine than i spent on my car)

have you ever thought about going b20b? I have that set up in my ek hatch right now and I'm going turbo next weekend, I was told its going to make a minimum of 200hp on only 6lbs of boost. i would go with that rather than the swaps you have listed obove, and its like half the price including the turbo kit

if you want a good daily driver with more than enough power id go b20, its the perfect app for going turbo and still having great reliabillity. how soon are you doing the swap?

im working on the body work first, im just trying to get all the info I can and then start saving for the engine, so I will probably have everything ready by next year. So I got some time.

I thought the b20 swap was illegal in CA because it came from a vehicle that is heavier than the EK?

It is. The state of CA considers the B20 as a light truck engine. Not a legal swap for a Civic.

A B18 bored to 84mm would be legal...

I'd go with the GSR, since I have heard that it's a direct fit and the parts are interchangeable just like that.

go with gsr like they are all telling you because they are right the h22 and b20 are both not legal in cali. Ive looked at droping the b20 in my sol, but was told you cant get it bard'ed by dmv. the b18 c is a direct bolt up as shopuld the b16 but if youre going to do the swap why go for second best

not sure what is and is not legal in ca but i would do the h22, it will blow that gsr out of the water all day and also it is no where near as heavy as people claim they are. There was a post on here a while back that actually had the weights and is not much more than a b. H22 ftw!
