Viper 790XV woes
I drive a 1998 Civic EX, and my problem started about a week ago when my Viper 690XV stopped working with my remote. I tried everything I could and eventually believed it crapped out on me and I bought a 790XV off eBay to replace it with. I installed it today, but the remote I got with the 790XV was crap and didn't work, so I figured I could use my remote which was the exact same as the one I just recieved. However, there lies the problem, I cannot for the life of me get the 790XV to mate with my remote (Which is a 478V) I tried what the manual said ("open a door, turn the key to ON, ...etc") but I still cannot get it to work. I unplugged the brain, unhooked the battery, etc, but nothing seems to work. Am I screwed on this purchase too? Or are there any other steps I can take to get this to work? Thanks in advance for your help!
Dang man... nobody knows?
Ok how about this... I can't get it into programming mode. I have the large pink wire (from the remote start relay bundle) hooked up as well as the door trigger wire hooked up as directed in the install manual. And doing the programming steps I get nothing still. Am I missing a wire? Or a step? Or anything? Thanks

i cant verify this for sure at the moment, but doesnt your alarm come with a valet switch that is needed in order to reprogram it? again im not sure but i thought thats what i remember reading on my alarm anyways which is also a DEI
Ok, good news. I successfully entered program mode. But once there I cannot program the remote. I press the lock button but I don't get any response from the alarm and then the remote gives me the three beeps like its out of range. Any way to reset the remote or am I doing something wrong?
if I remember correctly isn't the 690 exactly the same as the 790 but does not have the responder antenna and paging remote.
if so then everything plugs right in and the only thing you need to do is switch the antenna and it should work no need for programing.
you should try taking the 690 to a viper dealer and see if they will warranty it.

Well not exactly, the 690 lacks the remote start that the 790 has, but does have the antenna and paging remote. In fact it hs the exact same remote and antenna as the 790. But neither antenna will work with the remote on the 790. So I bought a new remote and will update as soon as it arrives.

Ok so good news. The new remote worked. The alarm is up and running. But I also have a second question. The prewired starter kill for this alarm didn't come with it. I have plenty of relays and wire, can anybody tell me how to wire a relay so I can have the starter kill? Or have pictures of it? Thanks for your help guys!
