replace the plug, or swap the plugs and see if the problem still happens. Only if as you stated its happening on only the 4th cylinder even after replacing the wire.

also when pusing the plug wire tube down onto the plug make sure you feel a click or hear a slight pop on each wire.

Check to make sure the spark plug is installed properly and not cross threaded. As well check to see if your top spark plug tube gasket is sealing properly. Do you see any signs of oil in the the spark plug tube? It could be crank pressure leaking into the spark plug seal that is causing it to pop.

Another method to try is to pry up on one edge of the spark plug wire tube cover. The part that seals to the ring on the valve cover. Kind of like sealing a Tupperware lid. You may be trapping too much air inside the tube when you push it straight down . I know it sounds dumb but I've seen it happen.

It sounds like you are using cheap plug wires and the wire is just not reaching down like it should on an oem wire. Try the wire next to it and see if it "clicks" into place, so you can narrow down if the problem is the wire or a plug issue.

I'm having difficulty with this as well. Never have before, the wires I had on for the last year never had a problem once, had a problem on the highway the other day and car died at 70mph, when I coasted to the gas station plug wire was popped off.

I ended up having to replace the igniter cause I was getting spark from coil, but not from the wires. Replaced Distributor cap and button, but the damn plug wire closest to passenger side keeps popping off.

Exchanged wires for a new set, replace PCV valve, still popping off. Saw this thread, tried the 'burping' or rolling up edges of the tube cover, still popping off. Never popped off like this in the 7 years I've had it.

Plug doesn't look to be cross threaded, and no oil in plug well to indicate bad seals. Rocker seals have been replaced previously.

I'm at a loss as to why this is happening, really no explanation for it, car runs fantastic, then stupid wire pops off and putter putter. Really drives a man nuts.

Anybody experience anything like this or find anything out since this thread's last activity?????
