To be honest, you should go to youtube.com and type in "Civic si exhaust" and listen to them to see which one you like. I like the Greddy TIC personally, but everyone is different. Just from memory, I know Greddy makes the EVO2, there is SKUNK 2 and HKS makes one, so theres 4 for you to start.

You won't get that fart can sound as long as you change not just the muffler but the entire exhaust. Bigger piping will be louder, the 2.5" - 3" will give you a loud sound.

Also, have you heard the stock exhaust? I have an 09 SI, its a really nice sound and when you get up over 6000rpm the VTEC sounds amazing and you aren't screwing with a brand new car! However your car, your choice obviously.

Apex WSII. Also, an exhaust alone probably won't give you the "power gains" you're thinking of.

small displacement 4 cylinder = fart sound.

Arguing that is futile.

But I'm sure you'll try anyway.

I have skunk 70mm with no cats and an equal length tubing manifold pushing through a turbo. And it's like I'm ripping one never ending embarrassing FART!

That being said, I don't know how you all can stand yourselves, because I can at least smoke people. You have fart pipes and get beat on the street so that must be super embarrassing. All I would be able to do is hang my head in shame. What's the point of the fart pipe if you are still gonna get beat!

Lol. Run your mouth to someone else with an imaginary turbo. The driver is the most important part of any race. The list of cars I've beaten at the strip is testament to that.

I would recommend the Vibrant catback exhaust. I love the sound of mine and it advertises one of the higher power gains.

The best bolt on for power gain would be a header though. Even if you paired a header with the stock exhaust, you will probably see a greater power gain than simply adding an exhaust. Eliminating the cat does a lot.

Please quit blocking links Honda-Tech....it is getting really old and annoying. If the link provides helpful information that is relevant to the thread, what's the problem?

x2...I love my Vibrant. Sounds so good in Vtec, and perfectly civil at a cruise.

Whats your problem? The guy wants to put an exhaust on his car, who cares if its the fastest car? For most people, Honda Civics are daily drivers and not supercars, so, if he wants to change the exhaust then let him. Don't insult him because he doesn't have a turbo on his FWD car.

I don't have a problem. I don't care if he has a turbo or not. He asked where he should start looking for an exhaust that doesn't sound like a fart pipe. In my opinion there is none. And I was just demonstrating that I am not biased by saying that even mine sounds like a fart pipe.

Some say the skunk 70mm is the deepest and I don't know how anybody honestly could agree with that after listening to a mustang or GTO or V8, all the guys with v8's say I sound like a buble bee.

if you want something thats sleek, quiet, looks good, go with either the greddy se, tanabe medallion, vibrant, and apex ws2.

if you want loud and obnoxious, go with the skunk2 60 or 70 mm setup, or the greddy Ti-c.
all the fart cans sound the same to me.

Apples and oranges. A 5L V8 vs. a 2L I4 isn't exactly a fair match...

OP please reread what the above quote says. With the least restrictive setup you might AT MOST gain 4whp. Sounds like a decent amount? That 4hp will probably be at 8k rpm somewhere I doubt you regularly go. Throughout the power band you might gain 1 maybe 2. Putting in a less restrictive air filter will gain you similar if not more hp then a cat-back alone.

I agree with this until the last statement. To me they sound different, maybe my ears are a little different.

However if its power you are after, the larger diameter exhaust (like the 63mm and 70mm) will give the "best" gains in hp, however you might loose a little mid range power to gain a little top end. Yet at the same time making your car much louder.

well most "fart cans" that are brand name sound the same to me with a stock header and cat. i think the big difference is what race header you have. because i have heard a strup header with the s2 70 mm exhaust and the buddy club with the same exhaust and it sounds different. but with the s2 race header and 70mm exhaust, it sounds nothing like anything i've ever heard in my life.

but anywho, im more focused on the sporty sound instead of just being loud and obnoxious. so im going with the greddy se but im stuggling because i want the exhaust, but i also want flashpro and my sony a330 lol

me and some friends were discussing the biggest difference between beginning tuners and veteran tuners and we came up with what exhaust you use. and we agreed that the more experienced tend to pick the more street friendly exhaust.
