I need help i was at the track yesturday racing and i was probabl about 100 MPH maybe a little less not 100% sure but i was going to shift into 4th but i hit 2nd my car overrevved really high and i downshifted into neutral and now my trans sounds like something is rubbing and its louder in higer gears what did i do to my trans??

b16a motor with a b16 hydro trans...i dont think i hurt the motor at all something just sounds like its rubbing ..

no it def dosnt sound like griding...it sounds like rubbing..theres friction on something

I did this once when I had just learned to drive stick. Destroyed my 2nd gear. Forever had the grinds till I swapped trannys. What do you mean by rubbing?

 

its not a grinding sound at all its more like a rubber on rubber like a friction of rubber

 

my friend said it could be my clutch but how would be overevving high **** up the clutch

No idea what that could be. Any way to get a sound clip?

 

Get in the car and start it. Press down the clutch pedal. Now release the clutch pedal. If you heard a noise with the pedal down to the floor it's a throwout bearing, if you heard it with your foot off the pedal it's a input shaft bearing.

Ouch input shaft bearing. Tranny has to be taken out and apart to get to it. Mine was going out on my car. I was about to replace it when someone offered a trade and saved me the work. Good write up:
