more info on the 03 accord
for those of you still wondering:
engines:
DOHC iVTEC 16valve 2.4L inline 4; 160hp 161lb-ft; redline 6500
SOHC VTEC 24valve 3.0L V-6; 240hp 212lb-ft; redline 6800
trannys:
5spd manual (4cyl)
6spd manual(from the 3.2CL Type-S; available only on the EX V-6)
5spd automatic
curb weight: 3000-3100 lb
est. 0-60: 7.5-8.9sec (maybe this will correct people thinking it can beat an S2000 - it wasn't a bad argument tho - the accord has the same power, altho about 250lbs heavier, more torque)
1,320: 15.8-17.0sec
top speed (ltd): 125(4cyl) 140(v-6)
mileage: city 20-26
hwy 28-34
-wheel and tire choices range from 195/65R-15(base DX) to 215/50R-17(EX V-6 6spd) --this is the first time Honda has offered wheels larger than 15" on the Accord (maybe first time for any Honda? i think maybe)
-there is also LED illumination in the gauges
-of course there are various upgrades as with any new car - stiffer chassis, better steering, braking, quieter...but i'm told everything feels like a typical Honda Accord should
-prices should remain the same as the current models
i for one think that the front looks like a sebring, the rear looks like a mercedes cl or volvo c70 mixed with the acura cl on the coupe, and the sedan from the profile or back looks like a saturn L-series/L300. altho now that it's been pointed out, the front fenders on the coupe do have an S2000 flair.
but for its price, Honda reliability, and 240hp with a 6-spd it's a damn great car!
i was hoping they'd introduce a manual in the V-6 since they terminated the prelude; they wouldn't give it one before for fear of diminishing prelude sales!
but if i were them, i would worry what's it's going to do to the Acura CL. with only 20hp less than the Type-S, and the same transmission, it's $6k cheaper. it's about $4k less than the base CL, which has only 225hp. whatever, i'll take the Accord.

I don't understand the slow 0-60. There's no way that was on the V-6 6 speed considering the Altima has the same horsepower, a little more torque but weighs more and only has a 5 speed and runs a 6.3. That has to be with the four cylinder or something.
Those number are just expectation, i wouldnt rely on it until it comes out.
Also, just wanted to let u guys know that the current accord ex v6 is actually heavier then the V6 altima.
According to the article "carconnection" the 2003 sedan ex v6 is some where around 3360 pounds which is also heavier then the Altima.
But dont be disapointed. the BMW 330 coupe is around that heavy and yet still cut in 15 or less in the 1/4. I do believe is because is rear whell drive of the BMW, better grip on launch thus good time. Remeber that the new Accord sopoose to have some sort of traction control. If they can manage a good grip at take off, then they might be able to cut in 15's, but if they dont, there should be still lots of to apreciate from honda.
