Car: 1988 dx 4-door with sohc zc

So first off my fan and temp gauge don't work. i tested my fan by jumping the two wires off the fan switch on the back of the black...it came on.

So here is where it gets messed up, i ordered a "Mishimoto Racing Spec Thermoswitch" off ebay and got this:


says its for 88+ on the listing.
Am i out of luck?

 

that looks different than the one that goes behind the block...that looks like if it goes on the side of the head by the dizzy...!!!

 

Seems to be for a newer style thermostat housing. Like an EG.
