I noticed oil on my engine block about a week ago and then saw its combining from the left side of my exhaust cam. Is there a seal or gasket there? Bc I noticed a black o-ring thing that was sticking up and ripped. I have a b18b1 btw. Ill post a pic if needed
replace it, it is like a 3 dollar part, you may also want to replace the valve cover gasket and spark plug groments while your at it
here is a linky with the part#s http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...s=&view=normal **lol that one doesn't have the cam plug **
here is the one for the plug http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...s=&view=normal

I forgot to mention that my dad is the general manager at carquest(also knows a lot about cars, built his own z28 and many more) and he looked to see if there is a seal. He said there is one on the cam gear/timing belt side but not on the other.

how much is hondabond? where do i get it? only honda or any parts store. ive never bought it so i wouldnt know haha
If youre going to replace the cam seal on the exhaust cam on dizzy side, then i suggest aftermarket cam seal
When honda put their cam seal in the engine, it doesnt really have any type of rings on it to actually do the "sealing" portion of it after a while.
Aftermarket ones u can get for about $20 and they will have actual rubber rings on them. I recently bought Golden Eagle Cam seal for about $30 and it has 3 Rubber ring seals on it... verriii niicee.
Hondabond is expensive at the honda dealership... well, it is out here in illinois at least. I called them and they wanted $35 for a small tube of hondabond. Thats ridiculous!! Go online and look at different boat shops... shops or stores that sell or work on boats have rtv sealants as well as HONDABOND considering Honda is a boat(watercraft) engine as well.
Got mine online for about $18

the right stuff is another VERY similar sealant. both it and hondabond are much more sticky than general RTV. if your dad works at carquest he can get the right stuff pretty cheap. made by permatex if i remember right. i've used it many times in place of honda bond and never had a leak.
