Default 8VEYBEYB'S build :) (updated with lots o pics ! )

Well I guess it's time to start my build thread. this grey one I picked up on 4/21 of 09 , and then It was towed as of yesterday(i stripped it clean ) , the yellow one is my project both are original Si's I purchased the *rust free* yellow one for 350 with no motor or tranny , got the grey one for 350 as well with a motor and tranny. also picked up another a6 block , turbo , vitaras , eagle rods , dsm injectors , everything to complete the a6 longblock and an a6 head with new valves and such for a whopping...300$ ... I know right? he was 17 and I guess ran into some money troubles and didnt want to **** with cars anymore. it also came with an act stage 2 clutch but it was used. and I dont use used clutches unless they look MINTY. anyways I will be updating every other day starting friday once I get my block and head and crank from the machine shop. also if anyone is selling a black / yellow / CF hood for cheep cheep let me know! this grey one is bent and it sucks. and dont worry I have a brand new OEM bumper in the garage going on tonight just to check fitment. I wont bolt it on until I get the motor in, I like working with no bumper its just easier.

300 bucks for an a6 head? yikes! SOHC vtec heads go for 100 - 125 bucks. Sounds like you might have gotten taken unless the head is fully built or something.

Good luck with the build though.

As an FYI this will probably be locked or moved to Cosmetic/Appearance thread.

I was gonna do the body work but the other rust free shell was cheaper and less labor I would have spent 300 in supplies and tools for the body work so I look at it as a plus. yellow just needs new front. (fenders , bumper , and hood.)

and the grey one had baaaad frame damage up front.

Oh, then yea id prob stay away from that.. mine has a replaced roof lol =P

I have a non oem hood and a SiR driver side fender that was slightly bent in shipping. If you lived in ohio thatd be easy enough. I need to have a low baller sale one day....

beer:**update**

so I got my block andcrank and all back from the shop today

got it done even though he was so busy it took 3 weeks to grind a crank. anyways i got it here , its my first time assembling a motor so my buddy is going to come help me put the bottom end together so I know how next time on my own. I mean most is self explainitory. only downside was I have already bought bearings and I forgot I would need undersize so I had to pay 100$ more for new bearing. ahh well heres some teaser shots Ill post again tomorrow when its assembled.

cheers

well for an update its not much of an update but tonight was a FAIL. lol but it will be cool by morning. I need a new piston ring compressor mine is from harbour freight and ... thats all that i need to say lol. also

one thing that did concern me though and I was never told about ... I am using SYSc rods... and vitaras. well the top of the rod rubs the piston a bit... I am assuming this is normal because the more I moved em back n forth they moved easier... but it also kind of concerns me a bit. this is my first D series build , so with that being said ... does anyone know about this?

well I took a chance with this and machined my rod to fit. for some reason the part in the piston where the casting comes together was larger on one piston than all my other ones. I took a chance an dremeled it for a few seconds and now the rod spins freely. Then some of the most stupidest **** happened. I broke a piston ring. even after being warned about these types of compressors. so now FJT will have to overnight me some tomorrow. WOOPEE. I am not a happy camper today. Its my first build and I should expect things to go wrong at times but man , I am so ancy to get this car running. boosting it will be fun. but seeing my work come alive is something I havent experienced before and its something that few understand. ahh I am rambling so I will quit boring you. be back with an update on tuesday most likely.

alright so tonight the bottom end will be assembled as long as fate still doesnt hate me because I got my rings yesterday but when I went to the carwash by my house the ****ing thing was closed. and I needed to get my block all cleaned out from when I notched it and honed it. I am just gonna use the parts washer at my work now. so tonight there should be a pretty decent sized update with lots and lots-o-pictures

I also need to order my timing belt and spring for the tensioner tonight.

anyways more updates tonight !!!
